Forget the Bible....

Forget the Bible....

Spirituality

...buy a dictionary.
There is so much disagreement on what words mean, practically speaking. Words like"truth", "spirit" or even "human" , not to mention a whole host of unresearched, unlived words are just used as hoc without actually matching up the word with its meaning.
Even when we agree on words (like "dog's or 'cat' ), the agreement is minor.
Is this why this forum goes around and around, year after year, without much apparent "progress" ?

No, It is not good advice to forget the Bible.

Rather we should come to the Bible in a prayerful way, turning our hearts toward the living God.

Rather than have excuses for not reading it more so then many other things we do which a contraversial, qwhich we contine with anyway, we should learn to apply our praying spirit and seek to see god's face (so to speak).

We should not be discouraged if we have to learn by trail and practice over many days or more. For taking in the words of the living God is like a salmon swimming upstream against the current.

The world ever seeks to carry you AWAY from touching God' Spirit. To turn towards God and come close to God is exercise of a praying spirit, a opened heart, and taking in of His word with the trust of a child towards her father.

While you are able to purchase or obtain a Bible you should have one and daily feed your spiritual hunger by reading it a little each day.

The day may come where where you live to have a Bible is considered a nuisance to society and you'd be a scafflaw to have one. AT any rate come to it now and simultaneously deraw close to God in your heart at the same time.

I cant remember Jesus preaching from any bible, so you can forget the bible. Jesus only used the bible to show people where they went wrong with bible interpretation, or if he had to show where his coming was prophesied then he also used the bible. Jesus preached a doctrine that is already written in the hearts and minds of all people, who only need to be reminded of that truth, which is charity and brotherly love which is all people need. There are many bible experts whose destiny is darnation and many who never read a bible that will enter the Kingdom of God.

Yes, that's definitely part of it.
But I refer to general misunderstandings as well

I beg your pardon, it was a figure of speech. I meant please have a dictionary as well

Because it's a discussion forum about spirituality, not an end in itself. I would further suggest "progress" is in the mind of each person. πŸ™‚

What would qualify as "progress" to your way of thinking?

@karoly-aczel
Forget the Bible....

I think there is plenty of stuff in the Bible to help figure out a code for living. I think, when it comes to the claims it makes about supernatural things, one can take it or leave it. But I don't see any particular benefit to be had from heeding the exhortation to "forget the Bible".

Now that cancels out my "Oh."

So it's just sophistry, one-upmanship, sycophantism and just a forum to comment on the relative? No actual unifying (universal) principles?
That's not how I understand Spirituality, a term often synonymous with ideas like "oneness" , " non-duality", universality, etc.
