I don't hate Judas for what he did.
It was Predestined and predicted his betrail.
If he didn't do it someone else would have.
Then, as I've argued somewhere around here in the long past, Judas is the real sacrifice!
Jesus had a bad weekend for our sins, but now he is in heaven again forever. Besides he was God, so he's lived forever in the past and will live forever in the future. No big deal to him.
Judas on the otherhand gave himself up to Hell forever so that we all might have the chance at salvation. Here he was. Just a man. He did not command incomprehensible power. He did not witness the founding of all Creation. Yet, he, just a simple man, gave up not just his earthly life, but his unending spiritual life for you and me.
Ask yourself, would you endure the terrible pain of the cross, face death and rise three days after if it meant saving many millions of people from eternal suffering? I'd like to think I would.
Now would you enter Hell to agonize consciously without ceasing, if it meant millions of others would be spared? I don't think I could do that.
But Judas did that. He did that for you and me. He will never be repaid. He will never wear a glorious crown. All that fame went to Jesus. Judas did what he did so that some might not perish but have everlasting life. Why don't you ask Judas into your heart today?
Just follow me in this simple prayer.
Judas. Thank you for giving up your chance to be in Heaven for me. I know that even as I pray, you are down there, burning in agony. Please Judas, forgive me for forgetting your sacrifice. Come into my heart, Judas. Cleanse me of my wickedness. Thank you Judas because I know that you have just fulfilled my prayer.
In your precious, precious name,
Amen
