I am amused by videos of Ray Comfort's street ministry. He will approach a stranger and ask the person questions like, "Have you ever lied? Have you ever lusted after someone you are not married to?"
One fellow turned the tables and asked Comfort, "Have YOU ever lusted?"
Comfort's lah-dee-dah answer I can just about quote verbatim. "Yes, but I merely fell into sin. I didn't seek it out."
Funny thing, Jesus Christ commanded, "Go and sin no more." He did not add, "But if you just fall into sin, that's cool, friend."
(Oh yes, I am aware of a possible comeback. "Hey Paul, the Bible says all have sinned and fallen short." True it does say that, but in pointing out that out, you are merely affirming that your Bible is self-contradictory. That doesn't really help your side of the argument.)

The situation is somewhat complicated in that the definition of "adultery" has evolved. I will go out on a limb to encourage discussion -- adultery was having sex with another man's wife and was forbidden as a kind of theft (from that man.) So lustfully gazing at another man's wife indicated disrespect for that man akin to the disrespect shown by actually havi ...[text shortened]... ou don't know she's married, or know she isn't, it should be OK, but you should try to find out.
Originally posted by SwissGambitThe context that matters is the context of the times. Most likely the man who would be disrespected by lustful gazing at, or sex with, an unmarried female would be her father, under the rules of those times. Actual sex would also pretty much ruin her marriage prospects (at least to a higher class male) and drive her into prostitution (which was frowned upon but not forbidden.)

Originally posted by sonshipActually, I DO have a problem with that. Like a GOD would tell young hormone dripping men they are sinning by following the precepts of their bodies, which you say was made by your god, for such a god to then go, you are now a sinner because of the hormones I put there for the express purpose of attracting mates.
Do you have a problem with this ?
Sure, a god would do that. NOT.

Every time you post this drivel, your credibility goes down. I mean, like YOU would know ANYthing a "real" god would or would not do.

For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living. But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written:
“As I live, says the Lord,
Every knee shall bow to Me,
And every tongue shall confess to God.”
So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.
(Romans 14:9-13 NKJV)
The apostle Paul was referring to the following that was written by the Prophet Isaiah:
[b]Tell and bring forth your case;
Yes, let them take counsel together.
Who has declared this from ancient time?
Who has told it from that time?
Have not I, the Lord?
And there is no other God besides Me,
A just God and a Savior;
There is none besides Me.
“Look to Me, and be saved,
All you ends of the earth!
For I am God, and there is no other.
I have sworn by Myself;
The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness,
And shall not return,
That to Me every knee shall bow,
Every tongue shall take an oath.
(Isaiah 45:21-23 NKJV)
Christian. There are other books/stories from other people in other religions saying different things. You can't prove you're right by quoting something from your book... they all can do that.
I get it, you're not going to chance your mind... I'm ok with that but you have to accept that there are many religions/non-religions in the world and yours while you don't believe so (like everyone else on the planet) might be wrong.

I'm not trying to change your mid, that is impossible but think about how many people there is in the world (about 8 BILLION) and how many different beliefs there is but not everyone can be right.
I know what you believe and I'm not trying to change your mind but at least admit that what you believe might be wrong. That's all I ask from everyone on the planet.
