1) How are you measuring prosperity?
2) If any of your ideas rest upon America's predominant xtian beliefs, why have atheistic, communist China and Sihkist, Hindi India been outpacing US growth for a long time now? Also why did Japan, a traditionaly Buddhist country, experience 'miracle growth' as its called in macroeconomic development during the later half of the 20th century?
3) Again, if your theory of growth is dependent upon xtianity, why is Haiti one of the very poorest countries in the world (like bottom 3) and yet has a population that is nearly 100% xtian?

On another note I have just gotten my issues of "American Cooner" and "Full Cry" magazines. Fascinating reading I must say. I have been out hunting four times this month and have seen one coon and one very aggressive skunk that made me and the pup turn and run. I did not take a crack at the coon because it was 12:30 am and it was about 150 yards from some people camping.

Where I live, the "cooners" would have taken on that agressive skunk or barrelled through a campsite as the tradition here is to get all liquored up before the hunt. And you wonder why there are so many ATV deaths.

I don't touch a drop when hunting or for that matter fishing. It would just look sooo bad in the news papers ya know.
The whole reason I like to night hunt is that I can avoid people all together, they are less likely to walk up to me at night then they would during the day. Of course the local sheriff will.

Since the US has, by far, the largest economy in the world, I assume that you mean that some of these countries you mention might be experiencing a larger "percentage" growth of GDP (or whatever it is you're measuring in your post)...

I'm not granting you that these countries' economies are growing faster than the US's, but it's much easier to have larger percentage gains in economic growth when you start from nothing.

Fact is, the US, in a little over 200 years, has outperformed every other country on earth during that time, and has accomplished more in 200 years than any other country on Earth has accomplished in thousands of years.

China's been around for thousands of years..their economy should completely dwarf the US economy by this time... why doesn't it? Same with Japan...same with India... the fact that they have to catch up with us should be proof enough of the superiority of a system which combines political liberty with economic opportunity... this combination is rare in history, and the US has done it longer than any other country in history.... For crying out loud, even China's population is 3-4 times that of the US... they should be kicking our collective asses all over the place economically... and yet, they're not.



And the thing is, ANY country could be great given 200 years of political liberty and economic opportunity... it's not that the people of the US are "better" than the people of any other country...it's the system...as i said, almost non-existent in history, except for in the US, over the last 200 years... and the US is the absolute envy of the world as a result.
