It is truly a mesmerizing story where he gets drawn in to their culture and finds some admiration of their faith. But he also finds that there is a limit to how much he can ever be accepted.

A couple of years ago I got to meet one of the characters in the book quite by accident and was able to sit down with him and discuss his recollection of the book. I highly recommend it.
