If her death wasn't so blatantly and obviously staged, he definitely would have gotten away with it. It makes you wonder how much stuff DO get away with, using their fellow officers willingness to sweep it under the rug and turn a blind eye.
If I remember correctly, when investigators first arrived on the scene, they concluded it was an accidental death. If that's true, those investigators should be fired.
