Originally posted by sonhouseit isn't as silly as it sounds, and in a way it is kind of here now. we'ld still have the individual governments, but one overall one to stop things like Christians getting put to death in demorcatic countries etc. i guess i was just looking at what options there were for this. this is one.

However the European union could be seen as a government, so could the united nations. The real question is, how much power must a global body have in order to be called a government? Clearly the US though still seperate states is one country with one government. A good definition would be that no two states within a union could declare war against each other.
