Yes, there is no dichotomy in that statement. Jesus was right.

The "God of the OT" was necessary for the purpose of the OT.

The Son of God was necessary for the purpose of the NT.

Perhaps you can give a reason why executing homosexuals was needed in the OT. What goal was achieved? What good could come from it?
