jesus shared his dinner with a few hundred people for free. if he were a capitalist, he would have set up a store (with options to franchise) and sold the fish. he would then build some sweat shops and get little vietnamese children to catch and gut the fish to reduce his overheads.

And what's the first thing Jesus told his disciples to do? "Quit your job and follow me." Can you imagine any of today's conservatives giving up their precious jobs? [And their right to feel superior to those who don't have a formal job.]

cant imagine he would go around curing lepers unless they had paid for their private medical-magical-miracle health insurance first.

That's the thing the church let the government deal with peoples wants!
People on welfare get what they want not what they need!
Now most of the churches in the neighborhood we live in giveaway food and clothes which is what people need.
There's a big difference in need and want most people today abuse it with want!

How about ENGLISH, reading, and math. And because I think in elementary school you should learn Spanish(not in High School) my dad bought for his grandson Rosetta Stone in Spanish. My son will start learning probably really young 2 languages.
Originally posted by RBHILL I think people on welfare should have to take classes on education. I know some state have you drug test which is good.
When you say "take classes on education" what do you mean? That they should all go into teacher training? Or are you talking about basic skills?
The problem with drugs testing is that people who take cannabis are caught because it lingers in the blood stream for a fortnight or so, hard drugs are metabolised in a much shorter time - so you could end up driving them from cannabis onto heroine. While I agree the main risk with cannabis is a failure to achieve much, the risks with heroine are far worse.
