Pope Francis just came out and said that the first genocide of the 20th century came at the hands of Ottoman Turks who slaughtered Armenian Christians.
So much for being hip with the left.
I have always been baffled by how the genocide in the Belgian Congo at the beginning of the C20th ~ where there may have been 10,000,000 who were killed or worked to death, plus systematic rapes etc., and it seems well documented ~ how it steadfastly refuses to show up on the mainstream radar when genocides are discussed.

I tend to vote Democratic party. Yet I have to admit that the 4,000 plus children who will be aborted today on average (just in the US) is not viewed on par with genocide of human beings by much of the left.
If so, then you are voting for Nazis.

Everyone knows that Israel is the root of all evil in the world.
Originally posted by twhiteheadThe words 'abortion' and 'fetus' were devised and defined so that people, like you, would not see the killing of an innocent unborn baby as murder. This, in fact, turns the truth of God into a lie in the minds of people like you.
That it is because it is not viewed as genocide by them. I too do not consider it genocide. And that's without even getting picky about what the word means. I just don't see abortion as murder.
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

So there wasn't an Armenian genocide?
The Armenian community was made up of three religious denominations: the Armenian Apostolic to which the overwhelming majority of Armenians belonged, and the Armenian Catholic and Armenian Protestant communities.

Therefore the term 'Armenain Christans' is used because they were not Muslim. The Ottoman Turks were Muslim.
Islam was the official religion of the Ottoman Empire and became more important after two seminal events: the conquest of Constantinople and the conquest of Arab regions of the Middle East. The highest position in Islam, caliphate, was claimed by the sultan, after the defeat of the Mamluks which was established as Ottoman Caliphate. The Sultan was to be a devout Muslim and was given the literal authority of the Caliph.

Thank God for the UN!! 😛
Now why not go start a thread about how Israel needs to surrender its land to the Palestinians?

It is to be the instrument of destruction for all false religions.
(Revelation 17:1, 2) One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me: “Come, I will show you the judgment on the great prostitute who sits on many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality, and earth’s inhabitants were made drunk with the wine of her sexual immorality.”
(Revelation 17:5) On her forehead was written a name, a mystery: “Babylon the Great, the mother of the prostitutes and of the disgusting things of the earth.”
(Revelation 17:8) The wild beast that you saw was, but is not, and yet is about to ascend out of the abyss, and it is to go off into destruction. And the inhabitants of the earth—those whose names have not been written in the scroll of life from the founding of the world—will be amazed when they see how the wild beast was, but is not, and yet will be present.
(Revelation 17:16, 17) And the ten horns that you saw and the wild beast, these will hate the prostitute and will make her devastated and naked, and they will eat up her flesh and completely burn her with fire. 17 For God put it into their hearts to carry out his thought, yes, to carry out their one thought by giving their kingdom to the wild beast, until the words of God will have been accomplished.
Then all who survive will see a cleansed Earth.
There will be no more religious wars or genocides.
And the resurrected dead will join them.
A paradise will be restored and spread to the far parts of the Earth with God fearing people to live in it and enjoy it. May you be there.

I note that, even after being invited to consider this colossal genocide of maybe 10,000,000 Africans in the first decade of the C20th, you are still touting the genocide that killed 1,500,000 Armenia Christians AFTER the one in the Belgian Congo as "the fist mass genocide of the 20th century"..

The greater question becomes, why are not children educated regarding the severity and common place occurrences of these genocidal events in recorded human history?
Children should know that genocide is simply human nature.
Speaking of which, since Roe vs. Wade, over 50 million unborn children have been slaughtered. They were not afforded the oppurtunity of having the birth fairy wave her magic wand over them as the passed out of the birth canal, thus making the human.

Originally posted by whodeyI am taking it up with you. The pope is not a contributor on this forum. You yourself have made the claim that what happened in Armenia was the first mass genocide of the 20th century. You've made the claim at least twice and one of those occasions was after you were told about the Belgian Congo. So I am taking it up with you as you have made the claim.
Take it up with the Pope. Apparently he is ignoring it as well.
