@Suzianne saidKellyjay's 'reality' doesn't extend beyond his chosen beliefs; anything outside that particular box is dismissed as mere scientifically proven fact, and counts for nothing, just some stuff someone said. Whereas, stuff that people wrote a couple of thousand years ago, ( long, long before the advent of modern scientific study and understanding ) which he is absolutely unable to defend, that has to be the truth, because....Well, because someone told him it's the truth. He accuses others of not discussing his beliefs with him, and yet....Ask him to defend or justify any of it in any kind of rational way, and one is met with....Silence.
It doesn't take a lot of imagination to deal with reality instead of making stuff up.
@Indonesia-Phil saidThis is completely germane to my point, but I want to give this more than a knee-jerk response, so forgive me if I don't answer for a day. I'm at work right now, in the morning I'll be off for the weekend.

@Indonesia-Phil saidYou have backwards

@josephws saidIt is the revealed Word of God. It can be literal in some places, metaphoric in others, poetic, historical, analogous, prophetic, and so on. The revelation message is for us, so we need to read it as from the Lord. The revelation needs to be taken seriously, if we reject it because of our unbelief, that is on the one rejecting it. God, should be taken very seriously, more so than anything or anyone in the universe, His revelation to us would be no different without it, we would be battered about due to our different opinions on everything, with one opinion no better than the next no matter what they are.
Every word of God's word is truth.
If you have a problem with that, then you can take it up with the author of the scriptures,
If you can.
I agree with you josephws.
@KellyJay saidThe word unity can be found in three places in God's word, and here they are.

Psa 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.
Eph 4:3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Eph Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.
We agree with God KellyJay, why? Because He said so. The scriptures reveal the faith.
Disagreeing with them only leads to disunity.
God has done a great work in our hearts and minds with His immutable, inerrant and infallible word by His Spirit when we believe through faith in His Son Jesus Christ.
The disbelieving and faint of heart wrestle with the truth of God's word when they argue with you over the plain meaning of the truth. After all, ultimately, it's with God Himself they are arguing with.
@diver removed their quoted postIt's not your question I'm dodging, it's you and your pathetic characterization and assertions about the word of God I'm dodging.
Now go on off and wrap yourself in your minimalist and watered down version of whatever it is you think saves you from the wrath to come.
There's no debating with you, but I would be inclined to beat you in a game of chess. If you dare.
