I at least agree with RJHinds, josephw, Suzianne and some more others, but Dasa is way on another level than any of us.

Here in South Africa and surrounding countries, poverty is blooming.
But even there, people have always been poor. Its nothing new. When I was in school, many of my classmates did not eat lunch because they couldn't afford to. This is still the case for many.
AIDS has hit us hard, so there are many orphans, and it is possible that some people are poorer than in the past, but there are also lots of people better off than in the past, so its hard to judge. But most of the world is getting richer.
People in our country is better off I assume because the credit grantor's give credit to those who don't even have jobs. Is this effecting our economy - you bet it does. In reality they are not better off at the end. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know.
So you admit that people are better off, but won't accept it because you want to see signs in the Bible?
Why are you so desperate for the end times?

There have been some here who have lumped me in with the fundamentalists for believing much the same thing as Nicksten here, specifically about the end times.

engage in reasoned and polite discussion.
You may believe similar things to Dasa, RJHinds, josephw and Nicksten... but you don't belong in,
or anywhere near, the same category of posters of mindless nonsense that Dasa, RJHinds, Nicksten,
and josephw inhabit.
Your beliefs do make you a fundamentalist, but that does not make you the same as the nonsense
brigade.

Revelation 13:15-18 (King James Version)
15And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, ...[text shortened]... r of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
Any other atheists want any other Biblical references??
I think on the surface and as with any technology it's sounds like a solution to a huge problem Identity theft and also supposed use for jobs and illegal immigration to help curve it. Also if your child get's lost you can find your child instantly. However the more sinister side is who would be using these chips and for what? The whole Orwellian idea comes to mind. The Government being able to track your every move. If you take a crap Big brother knows. If you do anything your being tracked. I always wondered about the "Mark of the Beast" is it going to be a physical thing? or a spiritual thing? The bible does say no one will be able to buy sell or trade without this mark. So in essence without this mark no one can eat buy or trade for sustenance. Physical would seem a more menacing and possible way to control millions.

Identity, is already provided by identity cards, drivers licences, passports, credit cards etc. Maybe those are 'the mark of the beast'? Some people resist using them on privacy grounds, and some countries insist on them more than others.
Tracking children requires:
1. communication.
2. location services.
both of which are provided by modern cell phones, which are the current way to track your child if you really want to. The problem of course is that your child's cellphone isn't necessarily where your child is.
But RFID is not a cell phone and does not provide child tracking services.
Maybe the mark of the beast will be built in cell phones. ie a cell phone that is under your skin and cannot be removed by kidnappers.
I think the real problem is that RFID sounds scary, especially the possibility of embedding it under the skin. But what it actually does is nothing new, and nothing not already carried out by other technology.

As for who's more dangerous - I hold that all fundies are dangerous (or at least potentially so); that said, Dasa might just have the edge on this one.
