It has already been asked, but all ask too. What is a 'worthless girl'?
In this case, one who is beyond hopeless and compels the other to join her--- not save her: join her.

So let's start praying
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day

Either you are amazingly insightful or I am painfully obvious.

Boy mustn't love girl, yet boy cannot help himself.
Boy eschews his side of the tracks to pursue girl on wrong side of the tracks, to disastrous results: boy loses everything valuable only to end with value-less girl.

True love, or tragedy?
What's your problem with black people?

That was said (among other things) to those who have something to offer but are unwilling to give to those who have nothing and are in need.

This is about a man who gives up what he has, jumps into certain death simply to avoid being without her.
Are his worldly possessions so precious that he should fear to lose them for unreservedly giving the gift of love to a fellow human being? To love without limit, even the least among us, as we would love Him...I can think of nothing else that better encapsulates the message of Jesus than that. For you to judge this woman, or any other person, to be value-less, or worthless, is surely a greater affront in the sight of God than a host of others that you would feign to conjure up.

Kneejerk irrelevance. Guess getting past puberty may still present a challenge.

He doesn't so much love her, as much as he wants her. I guess you could say it's a case of mistaken identity: he has mistaken his wants for love.

You seem sure of your young male lovers intentions, now I'm not saying your analisys is wrong, but are you sure you know this guys "heart of hearts" desire?
Is his love misguided or just a "necessary adventure" in order to possibly learn something that is not in the story and only in the heart of the young man?

Brings to mind the visual of two resourceful men constructing an impossibly high

bridge from distinct sovereign shores toward an almost casual middle as well as

Locke's, "We arrive at the truth through the honest disagreement among friends."
