As a Christian, the Bible is your proof.

As I'm sure you know, Jesus repeatedly described himself as "I AM" (in the Gospel of John for example). You shouldn't play down the significance of that Chaney. After all, in the OT God told Moses to tell the nation that "I AM" has sent you. (Exodus 3:13-15).
