Scripture speaking of Adam:
Genesis 1
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.
Scripture speaking of Jesus:
Colossians 1:15
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
Scripture speaking of those who accept Jesus Christ and become
Christians receiving God's Spirit, being born again.
1 Corinthians 15:49
Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.
Adam failed, Jesus did not, Jesus did as a man what Adam could have
done, walked the earth as God's image.
So when it comes to salvation and works, we are not saved by works,
but by God's grace. The reason this is true, before God we were dead in
our sins
Ephesians 2:3-5English Standard Version (ESV)
3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
We can thank God, not our efforts, not our righteousness, but God's
rich mercy and love towards us. We want to rely on our efforts, on the
fact we think we are better than other sinners, we will die in our sins if
we are not right with God, on God's terms not our wishful thinking.

What do you mean by "not right with God"?
