By the way, using words like “partake” doesn’t add any more biblical gravitas to your post than using “paradoxical” makes your belief in a multi-headed god less of a contradiction.
I should have spelled it correctly in the title. It is not Gavitas but "Gravitas".
I thought to devote a thread to this accusation of Divegeester.
He says that by using the words "partake" concerning God's salvation is artificially "adding gravitas". He also said the same goes with my use of the word "paradox" or "paradoxical".
Usage of such words is allegedly my adding gravitas to the New Testament. I don't think so. I think the gravity is already there, especially in that man can "partake" of the life of God.
By the way, using words like “partake” doesn’t add any more biblical gravitas to your post than using “paradoxical” makes your belief in a multi-headed god less of a contradiction.
I have seen a statue of an multi-headed idol in an illustration.
I guess applying such a "multiheaded" imagery is Divegeesters adding not gravitas but ridicule to the revelation of the Father - Son - Holy Spirit of the Bible.
He says I am artificially adding gravitas.
I think he is trying to add contemptuous ridicule to the Bible.
Any gravitas concerning partaking of God's life is not added by me to the New Testament. It is already there, I think, to be recognized. Gravitas need not be made up.
God is triune for His purpose that He could impart into His people His divine nature for them to PARTAKE of.
" . . . He has granted us precious and exceedingly great promises that through these you might become PARTAKERS of the divine nature , having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." (2 Pet. 1:4)
God has given precious promises that we could be PARTAKERS of His divine nature.
It is no wonder the Paul exhorts serving deacons in the local church to be "grave".
"Deacons similarly must be grave [having gravitas] . . ." (1 Tim. 3:8a)
The women in the local church should also be grave. That does not mean gloomy. It means not frivolous, like grave serving ones above. There are male deacons and female deaconesses.
"Women similarly must be grave, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things." (v.11)
They are all "partakers of the divine nature" being regenerated Christian believers. They are to have gravitas as ones -
"Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience." (v. 9)
@sonship saidNobody uses the word “partake” except pompous religionists try to sound all King Jamesy. It’s pretentious.

Sorry if that offends, but in revenge you get to call me a heretic, or some of the other little barbs you pull out.
@sonship saidNot all partakers of the divine nature are regenerated Christians. Your doctrine continues to be grossly out of line with the teachings of Christ and the Apostles.
They are all "partakers of the divine nature" being regenerated Christian believers. They are to have gravitas as ones -
Paul said : For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. (Hebrews 6:4-6 KJV)
Some Christians partake and live righteously and focus on the GREATER THINGS spoken of by Paul and reap the reward of eternal life
Some Christians partake of this same divine nature but focus is LESSER THINGS, and live sinfully and in the end do not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Unfortunately your focus continues to be these LESSER THINGS. People would be well advised to steer clear of your teachings. There are at least a dozen references to this situation in the bible. Let me know if you want more.
@divegeester

It’s amusing that your hubris drives you to start and entire thread about having this pointed out to you.
Go outside, get a life, talk to all those people whom you believe your version of Jesus will burn alive.
@sonship saidAnother example of your continued deception.

You say - they are partakers
You level of understanding cannot discern the difference.
@divegeester saidThankyou for reminding me to share the Gospel. I do.
Nobody uses “partake” in normal language sonship.

We talk that way because the revelation of God talks that way to us.
To not speak of us being "partakers of the divine nature" because it is old-fashion speak would be my unbelief.
How far will you go?
Is saying "We are saved" too old fashion speak to you also?
Is saying "there is God" also old fashion talking that nobody speaks that way any more?
You were saying something about ME trying hard ??
Folks, a major part of the good news of the Christian Gospel is that we become partakers of the divine nature. What do you think being BORN AGAIN is FOR ???
It is having another BORN into your being. And that Person is Jesus Christ God manifest in the flesh.
Those only preoccupied with only and objective "worship" of an objective God scoff at the New Testament's precious promise of making believers "partakers of the divine nature."
The Moslem would join Divegeester is unbelief.
The Orthodox Jew who strives only to keep the Law of Moses would join Dive's unbelief.
All theistic and deistic religions which have only a God UP THERE - OVER THERE - FAR FAR away to be worshipped as only an object other than them would agree with Divegeester's unbelief in man being a partaker of the divine nature in Christ's full salvation.
The gravitas came out of the mouth of Lord's apostle.
We are not merely spectators of the divine nature.
We are PARTAKERS of the divine nature.
It is a life changing revelation to be stood upon.
It’s amusing that your hubris drives you to start and entire thread about having this pointed out to you.
The so-called "hubris" didn't go away. It is still there as plain as day in my New Testament.
God is no longer only objective and up there away, apart from man to be fear and worshipped. Don't get me wrong. I worship and fear God. But I fear also unbelief in His precious promises by which I have become a partaker of His divine nature.
What do you think it means to be BORN ANEW or BORN from above or BORN AGAIN? It is God dispensed INTO you. It is the living God REACHING to you finally as one imparted into you.
"Old fashion talk that nobody speaks that way anymore" [paraphrased]
That is unbelief.
That is longing only to remain in the Old Testament perhaps standing on Deuteronomy and God being one.
God is one. But God is passed through two becomes that He might impart His life and nature into man that they may be partakers of His divine nature.
Two becames:
"The Word became flesh" (John 1:14)
"The last Adam became a life giving Spirit." (1 Cor. 15:45b)
What God IS in His three-oneness cannot be separated from what God DOES in His divine trinity to reach man's innermost spiritual being. His will is that we creations become "partakers of the divine nature" .
