god put so much effort into creating the world, taking time to right the wrongs committed by man and sin. killing, destroying many societies that had strayed from the path too far. then eventually sending jesus to help guide and spread the word of god. did we learn enough, did the words take hold? what do we have a society now that is worthy? if not then are we not no further than before the flood making everything that happened after the flood pointless or has god got enough examples of christianity taking hold to not flood the planet (for now).

what is the best example of social christianity? what town, village, city is the beacon of the values of christ? is there anywhere in the world which stands out as a testament to the words of god? is there anywhere where christianity has enough power and control to lead the development of a society or does the power of christ rarely stretch much further than the church and a few charity events?

in modern times what are christians most proud of when they think about their religion?

Jesus told his disciples the following about His second coming:
"For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be."
    (Matthew 24:38-39 NKJV)

In the days of Noah, men had become so wicked that God only saved eight people from the flood.

But from the time of the crucifixion of Christ until His return, God is allowing time for the "fullness of the Gentiles" to be saved by coming to faith in Christ.

But immediately before Christ's coming, there will be great tribulation for His people due to the Satanic wickedness that has overcome man. Then He will come and rapture His people from the Earth and destroy the wicked by fire all over the Earth. Thereby, He shall keep God's promise not to destroy mankind on the Earth by water again.

It heartens me no end to think of the millions of persons that have been helped to
overcome, abject poverty, drug abuse, prostitution, to transcend tribal differences,
nationalism, educational and economic barriers. Most of all I love the fact that there
are over 1,200 sign-language congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses around the world.

they are all worthy things that you mention and im in no doubt help struggling individuals in society. i was looking for something bigger where a whole community has been changed, or something we can see as a working example of christian values on a grand scale.

What do you mean by "social christianity"?

    Here's one view:

    http://blogforthelordjesus.wordpress.com/2010/03/12/spiritual-christianity-versus-social-christianity/

eg, "Spiritual Christianity is true Christianity, the purpose for which Christ died and was raised. Social Christianity is a poor and misguided imitation of the real thing."

    Here's the opposite view:

    http://www.pbs.org/now/society/socialgospel.html

eg, "Observing America in the late 19th century, British writer G.K. Chesterton called the United States "a nation with the soul of a church." At that time, the Protestant church began tackling social reform in what has become known as "social Christianity," or sometimes "Christian socialism," which was later adapted into the more moderate "Social Gospel.""

yes the problem was that movements such as the temperance movement, which
derived support from religious bodies caused more harm than it did good!

i just meant christianity in a social setting, or a physical example of a successful christian community. is there any examples of a christian societies being more successful than other societies.

it seems to me that christianity is about the individual and doesnt really translate to a larger social scale. the christian individual doesnt need to work with others to please god (it may help, but isnt essential) i think a side product of this is a slightly selfish attitude - as long as im in heaven i dont care about the rest - kinda thing.

would christianity be better if more emphasis was placed on humanity being united, we are only as strong as our weakest members, we ony deserve heaven if we are all good enough to get in. this approach might make our time on earth more productive.

Why are you referencing false religion.

You may not be aware but you are putting Christianity up as the authority to ask such things.

You cannot ask that which is not the authority - things that must be answered by the authority.

This goes back to my question...................what is the difference between false religion and true religion.

And no person in this forum could answer.

The Christian lobby could not answer either.

This is the point I have been making all along.........that Islam Christianity and Judaism are false religions ........

    Why???

Because they teach falsity and have no knowledge.

They have no knowledge because they are fabricated religions................fabricated only in recent times by womenizers and intoxicators and animal killers.

Religion cannot be recent [it must be ETERNAL]

This is why you cannot make the mistake to enquire from false religion thinking it to be some kind of authority.

Every atheist in this forum does it.

And they do it because no person in this forum knows the difference between true religion and false religion.

    Its a circus.

After Christ's resurrection from the dead, He said, "all authority has been given to me." That's why we reference Christianity. HalleluYah !!! Praise the Lord!

No................ Jesus did not say this.

This was written by the Bible compilers who fabricated the writing's.

And the Bible compilers were animal killers and intoxicators and womenizers and where not qualified.

Yes, God has turned around quite a few people. He works with individuals not
societies, cities, towns, and so on. So yes the people who he has touched have
been doing a lot of good works, but they are not going to get headlines, or have
papers write about their "good deads" and so on, that is never the point. The
point is just to do it right and the less that know about it the better least vain
    glory becomes the reward.

i just wondered if there were any examples of a bunch of individuals who came together or because of their proximity were inspired to do or create something amazing. like a utopia, or gave all there wealth away, im not sure what im looking for, just something that is a tangible example of the power of religion. i guess the amish would be the best example.
