It's a very enjoyable and thought-provoking film. It is somewhat slanted against the conservative Pope Benedict but it is not a caricature. Has anyone else watched it?

I haven’t seen it yet, but I think it’s still playing at the local alternative cinema. I will check it out. Thanks for the tip.

Just viewed the trailer. I haven't seen it advertised anywhere yet. Looks worth seeing.

I just saw the trailer earlier today. I'll give it a shake too.

You need to upgrade to the Platinum version for that.

Thank you for the recommendation. It was well worth the staying up until nearly 2am (Pacific time) to watch it.

For my mind, it is a film of the humanness of all of us, including the highest esteemed and respected spiritual leaders. It is also a beautiful portrayal of how harmonious conversations between parties with great differences of opinion can occur. Finally, it affects me in a personal way as I work for a social service organization directly funded by the Catholic Church and yes not dictated by it. In the three years that I have worked for Catholic Community Services in the family and behavioral health unit (with great emphasis on serving the most impoverished and vulnerable), I have never seen a priest nor felt pressure to do what I do except the expectation to utilize clinical and evidence based practices. They simply let us do our jobs. This is where I feel Pope Francis’ influence most.

The movie brought out another aspect of service that I have not thought much about; that is, how we treat those who differ from us ideologically—on either side—and how our difficulties in allowing ourselves to be fallibly human, shape our abilities in reconciling ourselves to other humans. It has given me much to think about.

On a side note, for whatever interested party: I did not have Chardonnay but the half bottle of Argentine Malbec I had on hand and slightly stale carameled popcorn I found in the pantry paired well with the movie.

Let's hope that these keen insights, shared in this way, don't bring down upon you a storm of facetious, tabloid-style, borderline-personal and ideological abuse by whodey.

Mostly you get bashed for the dreadful things you say. That you are conservative is actually beside the point. Lots of conservatives say the exact same despicable things you do, so they get bashed too. Unless being conservative causes you to say disgusting things, then being conservative has nothing to do with it. Do you really expect to get a pass for the horrible things you say?

Is this film mainly a documentary, then?

Edit: My apologies, I did not follow your link at first. It said "comedy-drama"? So is it fiction, or mostly true?
