hercules pleaded insanity in his murder trial. samson said god allowed him to murder 50 people and steal their clothes (and as such would have been declared insane as well).

Both qualify as legends ... One Greek, one Hebrew ... Heracles was famously stupid, though - not sure if Samson was too, although the woman tricked him easy ...
