Religious doctrine without application is essentially meaningless.

Christian religious doctrine without application is just people imagining that their beliefs are making them immortal.
Well so what? Why does it matter what they believe as long as they are happy with it in guiding their life's and even if it's dead wrong and cockeyed? They may share on the forum what we've heard hundreds of times and maybe it's even boring but so what? Let them speak freely in what makes them happy. If you are constantly policing everything some one says the forum dwindles down to just the same old few because they get chased away and then ones that are watching to see if this is for them never even get involved. Let new ones come in a let them have the freedom to speak what's in the heart. Rajk usually takes care of that but you do your share. If you have something to say maybe try to be kind about it? .... So maybe lighten up a little??????

I love that part about it. But that does not make it right to be rude or condemn anyone for their beliefs even if they are dead wrong. Nothing wrong with debates but plenty wrong with crossing the lines of being rude.

Many people consider some of the beliefs of your cult to be rude and child abuse.

Oh yes. Every JW I've know are the absolute rudest people and all abuse their kids. Gezzzzz. That's why the jails are just full of us.......

To the Christians here, I have plainly stated countless times that, if their beliefs give them purpose and meaning in life, help them to engage in morally sound behaviour, and help them come to terms with their death, then that's a good thing.

Nobody is trying to prevent anyone from "speaking freely".

I am not truncating anyone's "freedom to speak".

It seems to be you who is averse to people expressing ideas you disagree with. Your accusations of not letting people "speak freely" and not letting people have the "freedom to speak" are shabby and disingenuous. And what brought on your accusations? Yes, that's right: someone speaking freely about what they believe on a debate and discussion forum.

My sister, the Pentecostalist, sent me a text message on my cell phone, wishing me a happy solstice. I thanked her.

I also found, and acknowledged, that Suzi and I are in substantial agreement about the power of what she called “subjective evidence” for faith. And her Yoda quote was spot on.
Yes, and I should have thanked you for your comments.

"Application" is not the same thing as "meaning".

Nice.

What sucks about you is that you are so even-handed, and everyone seems to like you.

If I ever met you, I would punch you in the face for that.

Yes! Amen, brother. Spirituality is not about a "search for truth". It's about a search for meaning and purpose in life.

You might.

You might also be skeptical of your own, very definite conclusions on these matters.

As a critical thinker, you might ask yourself, "is that really true?".
