Religion "will inevitably appear, in the eyes of science, to be distinguished as no more than a sphere of confused ideas" (Totemism 1962 Levi-Strauss).

When will as a race grow out of this childish explaination for life and creation that we call religion?

    Never.

Some religions will be much more limited than they are today, however - assuming we manage to avoid self-annihilation. Militant monotheism, that is the belief in a single God whose message equates to "my way or the highway" will no longer exist in anything but a brief minority.

A more apt term to describe the future's faith would be true spirituality rather than organized religion.

Just imagine no more religion and then the world will be one..........Are you listening to John Lenin songs again? I think if you somehow are able get rid of all of us religious folk the world will enter a new era of peace and tranquility. Yes, an era or peace that the world has never known with man in it.

Religion will only disappear when the human race does. The nature of our species demands an answer or explanation for everything, and when we can't find such an answer, we simply make one up .....in the form of religion.

Fortunately, due to advances in science and technology, answers are being found for most things which our concept of God used to explain:
Thunder and lightning, floods, plagues, disease, death, life, etc, etc.

When everyone is educated, then there will be no more religion.

If people are educated, then even the gullible ones will chose science over religion, because it is more persuasive. (It has experiments to appeal to all people, gullible or not).

Never forget that gullible people only chose religion because they have been brain washed from an early age.
