Tough one. I've enjoyed both (dependant on definitions).

Using the wiki definition of fornication
Fornication is generally consensual sexual intercourse
between two people not married to each other

What can be bad about it?

Definitions for adultery are less clear. If a married man has sex
with someone other than his wife that is clearly adultery ... but is
it adultery for an unmarried man to have sex with a married woman?

We've been over much of this ground in the other Fornication/Adultery thread.

The things that can be bad about fornication include unwanted pregnancy and transmission of disease.

IMO, adultery is wrong if it involves breaking a promise of fidelity. If there was no such promise [say, an open marriage] then it is not necessarily wrong.

Yes, it's adultery for an unmarried man to have sex with a married woman. All that is required is one person having sex with someone other than their spouse.

The sex drive is much like any other appetite, in that it is possible to indulge it to the exclusion of other important things in life. The appetite in and of itself is healthy and normal. Condemning 'fornication' as morally wrong is not very helpful, because many people will have such experiences without any perceived downside. It is a knee-jerk religious-type reaction to ban things outright [like extra-marital sex] simply because they might be problematic in some cases.

Which is better Fornication or Adultery?

The question of this thread is phrased peculiarly to me.

Should one ask "Which is BETTER?" or "Which is WORSE?" ?

Absolutely, for a single man to have sex with a married woman is adultery.

We need a Savior. And you say I am delusional. No indeed. We need the Savior from the guilt and power of sin - including adultery, including fornications.

Well, that was the joke. Someone already asked which one is worse - see Thread 162191.

Indeed, I need a savior. Preferably a slut who will save me from my lack of fornication. 😵

It was just a joke. But there is a point in it.

People are different. Some have higher sex drives than others. Religion does humanity a disservice by insisting that we all behave as if we are the same.

Oddly, it also promotes an extreme skepticism of the human race. "You cannot be trusted to manage your own sexuality responsibly!" - it chides. "You might make a hash of it - so the best thing to do is repress your sexuality or at least limit it to a single method of practice that is the least likely to cause harm!"

I am not doubting that many people can find happiness in a committed, monogamous relationship. I know many people who do [or at least, if they are cheating, they have fooled everyone]. But, what a great loss to people who can responsibly enjoy sex outside of marriage that the stony-faced rule-makers feel compelled to take that away from them.

This is a very wide generalization BigDoggProblem.
And it is a bit self refuting one. You are doing much the same thing by insisting everyone agree with your opinion here.

You are wanting everyone to agree with your outlook.
So its is somewhat self refuting to lump all religion as wanting to make everyone the same.

Some religions would encourage multiple partners.
Mormonism is a religious belief which has a branch which thinks it is a man's sacred duty to have more than one wife.

Multiple sexual partners of the married is not just a concern of the "religious."

So generalizations don't go too far. And I am pretty sure some atheists would knock your jaw out of joint for messing with their marriage partner as well. And they aren't "religious".

Some secular laws have concerns for infidelity.
Some nonreligious health workers have concerns about it as well.

Asking which is WORSE is passing judgement.

You have to establish that both are BAD.

fornication is FUN
it is GOOD
if there was a god SEX was a good invention
(although I can think of some improvements)

I didn't say having sex is a weakness. Someone has a warped and twisted mind here.

They see G and imagine it to be C. They are not keen to distinguish between G and C because G looks something like C. They want to say it is C.

It is to someone's warped caricature that he assumes a Christian is saying "to have sex is a weakness".

He sees one thing said and spins it into a caricature of what he wants to think is being said.

Sorry - but after reading your reply, it's obvious that none of my words sunk in at all. Please try again. I can't see any substantive debate happening if I try to respond to the content of this post.

Ok, I'll take another look.

But this is sometimes what happens when someone JOKES and says "I was only joking" in a conversation. Communication can be hampered.

But I will look at your comment again and see if I missed your thinking.
