I mean, think about how many people have died in the last 2000 years. It has to approach a trillion. So lets assume 1/10 of them go to heaven. So now there are about 15 times as many people in heaven as on earth. To what purpose? To amuse your god? What would they be doing for 2000 years or 20000 years or whatever? Do they get special education in heaven? I mean, on earth in 25 years or so you can get a Phd. So by that arithmetic in 2000 years there would be time minimum for 80 Phd's for each individual. Do you think they are getting this education in heaven or are they just sitting around singing hosanna's 24/7? What do you think they would be doing?
Would they for instance be able to do what gave them inspiration on earth, like a dancer or painter or mathemetitician, musician, bricklayer, bodybuilding champion, kickboxing champ, there must be all of the above who were devoted to your religion and therefore go to your heaven. Do they get to do what they had done on earth? What if you were a christian world class porn star, would they be able to do that in heaven?

Obviously -- for a really huge chess tournament with time-outs of 3,000/7,000. The clan names are different, though: In Deus Veritas, Brothaz Witout Attitude, Precipitation Formed Clouds ... but I think The Jewish Clan is still The Jewish Clan.

Do they get to invent new games? Like jump the cloud? Or use galaxies as chess pieces? You can see them move around you know.

Yes. Normally it's all fairly friendly, but sometimes there are problems. Buddha is way too laid back and uses up practically his whole time before he gets around to moving. And when Zeus and his clan show up, the games are a lot more cut-throat. Surprisingly, heaven can get a bit nasty at times.

Have you no sense of community? The pleasure of just being with lots of different kinds of people?

You're probably the kind of person who spends lots of time all by themselves, sitting in front of a computer, pretending that you're having social interactions by typing messages on your screen.

Oh, wait...

PS Your maths is off. I seem to remember there are more people alive today than there have been throughout the rest of recorded history, or something like that. There certainly aren't a trillion dead people out there.

Hey, social interaction is great, but do you really want to talk to the same people over and over for millenia about the same thing you talked to them in the last 7 million mellenia?

You'd think that they'd probably want to do something other than sit around chewing the fat.

Orgies. It's the only explanation.

Hmm, you have a point. Although by the time you got through everyone, it might be more like "Hey! How are ya! Haven't seen you for a couple of billion years!"

Not sure, though, on whether just chewing the fat is such a bad thing. I think that part of the 'disease' symptoms of modern life is that we all think we have to spend our time DOING things, instead of just BEING.

Just talking can be good. I remember having a 5-hour conversation with someone I'd only recently met, and it was one of the more enjoyable nights of my life. It's really hard to imagine how that would feel if it was extended over days, months or years.

There is no teaching in the Bible that the eternal destiny of the saved is to be in heaven.

The destiny of the redeemed and regenerated human beings is New Jerusalem which is a sign in Revelation 21 and 22.

The sign signifies man transformed by God's life to be a collective expression of the uniting of God and man for His glory and our enjoyment. A sign is used to convey something very profound about God's eternal purpose.

New Jerusalem as a symbolic sign is seen coming down OUT of heaven.

"And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband." (Revelation 21:2)

If the final destiny of the saved is coming down out of heaven from God then "going to heaven" forever obviously is not the intention of God. BUt to bring the saved into "New Jerusalem" is.

But I think you tend to like to ask questions which will reinforce your attitude that the Bible is ridiculous and not worthy of serious consideration.

I would be very concerned if I never received any cracks like that.

I'm probably on the right track. Thanks.

there souls will be resting until the time comes for the Messiah to return. Think of it as a semi-conscious state.

Is this specifically mentioned in the bible? Or is it your own interpretation?

Oh by the way, it's 'their' souls.... not 'there' souls...
