As usual couple of forum atheists are going to try to make bull-dung look like icecream, ie. Atheism has nothing to do with Stalin's Soviet Russia. Maybe Mao's China had nothing to do with militant atheism.

Apparently it was just an amazing coincidence that every Communist of historical note publicly declared his atheism … .there have been twenty-eight countries in world history that can be confirmed to have been ruled by regimes with avowed atheists at the helm … These twenty-eight historical regimes have been ruled by eighty-nine atheists, of whom more than half have engaged in democidal acts of the sort committed by Stalin and Mao …
The total body count for the ninety years between 1917 and 2007 is approximately 148 million dead at the bloody hands of fifty-two atheists, three times more than all the human beings killed by war, civil war, and individual crime in the entire twentieth century combined.

The historical record of collective atheism is thus 182,716 times worse on an annual basis than Christianity’s worst and most infamous misdeed, the Spanish Inquisition. It is not only Stalin and Mao who were so murderously inclined, they were merely the worst of the whole Hell-bound lot. For every Pol Pot whose infamous name is still spoken with horror today, there was a Mengistu, a Bierut, and a Choibalsan, godless men whose names are now forgotten everywhere but in the lands they once ruled with a red hand.

So why are you ignoring verse 9?

9 "But fire came down out of heaven and "consumed" them."

Synonyms and Antonyms of consume
1 to destroy all trace of
massive fires had consumed hundreds of square miles of forest
Synonyms of consume
devour, eat (up)
Words Related to consume
gut
deplete, drain, exhaust, expend, spend, use up
annihilate, decimate, demolish, d ...[text shortened]... orever and be tormented? If you believe that then you have some issues with understanding the bible.
Consumed does not necessarily mean annihilated. You need to go back to school. The bible says these three beings, will be tormented for ever and ever. The bible never said that all people cast into the lake of fire will be tormented.
Only these three. Most likely because these 3 are not human, and already have eternal life. Mortal man cast into the lake of fire will be destroyed. Satan, the False Prophet and the Beast are not human.

I will stick with the bible. You believe your Watchtower interpretations which quite often changes the bible meaning. Its like the 144,000, who are clearly the descendants of Jacob. You jokers changed that to mean Jehovah Witness members. lol 😀

I didn't say no link could be made between Christianity and the crimes carried out under its name.
So, just to be clear. Are you saying a link CAN be made between Christianity and deaths and killings on a mass scale?

No true Christian would EVER commit a crime.
Therefore crimes are committed by non-Christians.

Now look at the stats:
Crimes committed by Christians 0%
Crimes committed by non-Christians (of which Muslims and Atheists make up a large part) 100%

The stats speak for themselves!

Let's suppose ALL the evil things in the world were done by atheists.

Would that make atheism wrong?

LOl. So you don't agree with half of the bible at best and now you don't agree or understand plain English and have no idea what dictionary's or encyclopedias are for do you? You do know no one here takes you serious on any level do you? Why are you even here?

@lemondrop
Because that would be like a father killing his own son.

Edit: Or like the head of a CEO killing the senior mail-room boy at corporate headquarters.

Thoughts come and go. At one time I thought you were more principled.

@sonship

The clear failure of your argument is that although there are 'godless' countries where atrocities have occurred, there are also 'God-fearing countries' where atrocities have occurred. (We can all link to examples).

Conclusion:

Religious outlook is irrelevant. 'Man' is responsible for atrocities, irrespective of his belief or disbelief in God.

Epic failure by sonship here.

You are being very generous!
Atrocities have very often been "justified" by religious beliefs.

Historically, atheism has generally been an integral part of communist ideology (see: Atheism and communism).

My bolding

Is what was written there.

"Intergral part" is not the same as exact identity.

Happier reading comprehension. That is unless you want to deny that atheism was an integral part of 20th century communist ideology.

IE. Albania had as its state religion in the 70s - 80s - atheism.
Salt is an integral part of Italian cuisine - that doesn't mean that a bag of salt makes for a tasty meal.

religion becomes the excuse for what we do in God's name. Jesus told us to love your neighbor as yourself. and to love your enemies. Somehow the Kings of the Middle Ages and all the way to these days with ppl killing others in the name of God or their religion has gotten the message skewed.
