The Romans and Jews in the time of Jesus didn't like each other much. Jews hated their Roman occupiers, and Roman officers hated being posted to such a rocky, arid, and unforgiving place. The only thing they had in common was they didn't like Jesus or his followers much either. Jews looked upon Jesus as blasphemous nut case, and Romans saw Jesus and his followers and a bunch of minor league jerks who occasionally disturbed the peace. Both groups wanted Jesus out of the way, and when Jesus was crucified, they got their wish. Christianity should have ended right there. On several occasions Jesus said he would rise from the dead; it would have been an easy task to wait a week after Jesus' crucifixion, grab his dead body, throw it on an Ox cart, and parade it around the streets of Jerusalem calling him a fraud. Oh, and please - don't try to sell me on the idea that a bunch of unarmed, ragtag disciples overpowered the Roman guards in front of Jesus' tomb and hid his body! No, Jesus' body was gone. Something happened in those 3 days after Jesus' crucifixion that they just can't explain away-
