-Removed-Romans 8:9
You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
Romans 8:10
But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!
It isn't the things we do, it isn't the things we say, it is are we Christ's or not, abiding in Him, believing in Him, our salvation is because of Him, not because of anything we can bring to the table.

@kellyjay saidJesus was a Jew, and there is not the slightest indication in the Synoptic Gospels that he thought of himself as founding a new religion distinct from Judaism. The 'new' religion called "Christianity" was invented by someone else, after Jesus died.
I am a Christian because of Jesus Christ, and if anyone is calling themselves Christian for any other reason, they are eternally mistaken.

@moonbus saidTrue prophets don't seek after personal gain through a "cult of personality" process either.

Moses didn't think he was creating a "new Judaism" religion either, but that is exactly what happened. He codified what it meant to be a Jew, and the Levites and the rabbis took it from there. Jesus was not trying to make a religion to be named after him, but he codified it through his teachings nevertheless, for Jew and Gentile both, and the Church, led by Peter, took it from there.
@suzianne saidSo, a Christian is a member of a church whose bishop can trace his lineage back to one of the Apostles.

@moonbus saidI said nothing about lineage, but my personal definition of a Christian is one who follows Christ, not one who only says they follow Him.

And that's why I've also said more than once that Pascal's Wager is complete nonsense.
