Despite very indifferent performances.. all the English teams are through to the Q-F in the champion’s league. (well Arsenal are 1-1 at the mo!)

What does that say about the other European leagues?

The ENGLISH PREM LEAGUE IS STILL THE BEST LEAGUE IN THE WORLD!!!

Only English people think the EPL is the best league, the rest of the world knows the Spanish and Italian leagues are better.

EDIT: AC MILAN beat Celtic 1 - 0 (1 - 0 agg.). Kaka scores in extra time (93 min). AC Milan go through.

Yeah, but how many times have they WON it (or even made the final?) in the last 10 years compared to the Spanish and Italians?

EDIT: Going back 15 years.

English Winners
Liverpool - 2005
Man U - 1999
Total - 2

English Runner Up
Arsenal - 2006
Total - 1

Italian Winners
AC Milan - 1990, 1994, 2003
Juventus - 1996
Total- 4

Italian Runners Up
AC Milan - 1993, 1995, 2005
Juventus - 1997, 1998, 2003
Sampdoria - 1992
Total - 7

Spanish Winner
Real Madrid - 1998, 2000, 2002
Barcelona - 1992, 2006
Total - 5

Spanish Runners Up
Barcelona - 1994
Valencia - 2000, 2001
Total 3

So England have only had 3 finals appearances in the last 15 years, while Spain had 8 and the Italians 11.

15 years is a field of convienence. If you went 30 years, 10 years, or 2 years back English clubs record would have a better ratio.

Still it should be better than it is.

I think that we might be the best at the moment because of the money in the premiership.

But be honest a few years ago spanish football was way better. Before that the Italians ruled.

Maybe in the early 80's we were top for a while.

Currently our top four teams have great managers with huge budgets.

You ignore the profound effect that the 5 year ban on British teams playing in Europe after Heysel had on their competitiveness.

Also, the "only three foreigners" rule hit British clubs really hard, seeing as Welsh, Scots and Irish were all considered foreign.

United at the time had Schmeichel, Keane, Irwin, Giggs, Cantona, Kanchelskis and Mark Hughes (If memory serves me), only three of whom could play. I remember Schmeichel getting dropped against Barcelona due to this ridiculous rule. I believe that was scrapped around '96.

Couldn't agree more....it goes around a bit, one league appears stronger, then another....

The German league was considered strong, but at present it's not very strong at all.....still the best league for a day out at the footy though.....the best beer, great atmosphere, terraces......much better than English premiership for a fan

Beating Celtic 1 - 0 on 93 mins is nothing to be proud about when you´re AC Milan, or anyone else for that matter, except possibly Rangers.
