Picking pre-season games is pointless. Whose third stringers will be more interested in winning the game is random. A monkey would do just as well as the world's foremost football expert.

Guess who receives the "2014 NFL Pre-season Monkey Award" from sh76?

Note: Our CBS Sports NFL League (with morning lines) was formed in 2008.

The Las Vegas Casino$ have learned how to set it in order to keep all those lights on: which teams do you pick to win?

X = My picks without the morning line: 10 At (Home) and 6 Away plus the New York Giants in the Hall of Fame Game.

but they don't know how playing time will be allotted. and for the young guys it's still a mystery how they will perform in the pro game this early. so maybe it's the time to strike and hit the big one. I was late with my hall of fame game pick. This is for the 8/7 games
    I'll take Colts +3
    Redskins -1.5
    Ravens even
    Chiefs-2
    Denver -1.5
    Dallas +2.5

    8/8
    Atlanta -2.5
    Carolina -1
    Tampa Even
    St Louis -2.5
    Chicago-2
    Oakland +2.5

    8/9
    Detroit -2.5
    Pittsburgh +3
    Green Bay +1
    Arizona -2.5

I will not pick the over under until regular season.

No need for Las Vegas Casinos to "know how playing time will be allotted" or how young players will perform. Lines don't represent which teams casinos think will win; they do represent which teams the wagering fans think will win. The objective is to distribute wagers as evenly as possible to maximize the vigorish income. Which team* would you have picked?

"Who Sets the Line? The first thing that you need to understand is that all of the odds are set by the lines makers. These guys are very good at what they do, but their job isn’t to pick winners and losers on the games, but rather set a number that will balance the action and allow the sportsbook to make their money off of the vig or juice. For instance, it’s pretty standard to have to bet $11 to win $10 and that $1 is called the vig. If the action is balanced each player who bets $11 on team A will have a corresponding wager of $11 on team B, guaranteeing the book that $1. This is why in the NFL you are gambling as much against the public as you are the house. The casino doesn’t really care if you win, as long as they are paying you with other gamblers money." http://www.betfirm.com/understanding-nfl-odds/

Oh, I know buddy, I'm just saying, anybody in their right mind isn't putting down good money on the NFL preseason. During the regular season, even if not wagering it's fun to pick week to week. Confidence pools are fun too. I'm a Bears fan by the way just to identify my allegiance. The preseason is very tough to watch as well other than half of the 3rd game. Unless it's your team I guess, but still....
Well, I'm looking forward to the season, it looks like the Bears 3rd receiver behind Marshall and Jeffrey got hurt today, M.Wilson, (clavicle) probably will miss the first few weeks of the season, people are acting like it's a big injury here, but I don't think it's integral. There are a couple other guys having a good camp for the 3 wide. defense should be better. compared to last year that's not saying much. It's all about staying healthy and beating the Packers. Good luck to all teams and enjoy the season.

Let's have our own preseason competition here. Maybe others will join. Picks Deadline: day before each week's first game.

Note: Hope your Bears do well. My wife and I relocated as a career move from Boston to a Chicago Suburb for several years.

I'm in! Like I said I didn't get my hall of fame game pick in that's why I left it out, the game was over. Aah, very cool GB, glad you can spend time in Chicago, I hoped you enjoyed your time here. I have been to Boston on a major road trip, visited Cooperstown for the baseball hall visit, then Springfield mass, for the basketball, but visited Boston for a night and can't remember what restaurant we ate at but it was great. That must have been 1990ish. so thanks and yes, let's have fun here for the preseason and beyond and hopefully others join in.
