That doesn't mean their name will change but this is horrible, American people fighting to censor other Americans. .. what happened to freedom of speech?

Their freedom of speech is not affected. They still have the right to make their team logo whatever they want.

Really man? I just said that, but the issue is Americans trying to censor fellow Americans with no thought to the free expression our country was partly founded on.

The renaming of a football team is hardly a case for a national day of mourning.
The owner said he now recognizes the terrible stigma of being called the Washington Redskins, so he is changing the name to the Northern Virginia Redskins.
What I don't get is why it's ONLY the Redskins. There are many other teams named after some sort of "Indian". Are we going to make owners rename all those, too?
What about the Fighting Irish? Isn't that racist, too?

Some colleges have changed from Indian names to something else. Stanford was the Indians, now the Cardinal. North Dakota St was the Fighting Sioux; not sure what they became.
"Redskins" is a term, not a tribe name, and has a white-man derogatory history. In Washington DC today, that is a lightning rod. The current Administration likes to keep all past sins of the white man front and center, to score political points with the revenge-minded. That's why Fightin' Irish aren't included. Fightin' Kenyans, now, would be black-listed. (Oops.)
