I know there are already a lot of threads about the upcoming Super Bowl, but I just wanted to make an official one.
Giants over Patriots - The biggest stage for an upset, I think this is the week that the Patriots will finally lose. The Giants have been playing really well these past few games. I haven't really given Eli a chance this whole post season, and he has proved me wrong week after week. So this week I am finally going to root for Eli, hopefully I am not jinxing him. Anyways, go Giants!

I couldn't agree with you more. Eli's been hammered by the press over the past year and people were saying that it's about time he stepped up to the plate and earnt his corn... I think he may of suprised himself!!!!
My prediction, Giants to win a thriller in OT.... We put the wind up the Pat's in the final game of the regular season and a reverse to the scoreline looks about right...
Does anyone know how the bettings going the other side of the pond, bookies in the Uk have the Giants with a 12.5 point spread.... Looks a great bet to me????????
You all make laugh. Every week people are making the bold prediction that THIS is finally the week the Patriots lose and the statements end with phrases like "mark my words" and "you heard it here first".
Start out by naming one phase of the game that the Giants are clearly better than New England.
1. QB -nope not even close
2. Receiving - nope.
3. Running Back - nope Edge Pats when you factor in Kevin Faulk
4. Kicking game - not after watching you're kicker last week miss two in a row.
5. Defensive Line - Maybe but Pats are very strong here too. Even.
6. Linebacker - Maybe a slight edge to Giants but not certain.
7. Secondary - nope
8. Special Teams - nope
9. Coaching - nope

I realize that these prediction threads are just for the fun of it and don't need to be taken to seriously but I still find them amusing because, for the most part, the predictions against the Patriots since the playoffs started has been based solely on wishful thinking. People throughout these playoffs have picked the Pats to lose simply because they want them to lose, not because it is a smart prediction, and I find that interesting.

Here's my attempt at an objective view of the coming game:
The Patriots are better than the Giants in most phases of the game including Quarterback, Receiving corp., Offensive Line, and Special Teams. The defenses of both teams are roughly equal. The Giants are #1 in the league at QB pressure and the Pats are #2. The Patriots lack speed at linebacker but more than make up for that in experience and overall toughness. Both secondaries can be exploited.
By all accounts it appears the Patriots should win this game since they're offense is substantially more explosive than the Giants however the Giants to have some strengths that they can use to exploit the Patriots.
#1 They've got two big and skilled receivers (Toomer and Burress) that will match up well against the Pats small cornerbacks. Combine that with the fact that their Quarterback has shown a lot of progress this year and you have to think the Giants will be able to pass the ball.
#2 Pressure - more than any other team the Giants are capable of bringing pressure to the QB and that is essential when going up against Brady. Their secondary and LB's cannot possibly cover all of the Pats receivers. However, if they can bring pressure consistently for the entire game they have a chance to make some critical stops.
So the Giants do have a chance to win this game but I wouldn't bet money on them straight up (maybe with the spread yes). Giants will score some points but I don't think it will be enough. Final score 38-27 New England.

The pat's struggled to beat a resting Giants side in the last game of the regular season and have improved 10 fold since that very evening.
In my opinion everything points towards the Giants.
So......
1. Eli on fire, put him in the pats offence and your immediately have a better team.
2. Point taken
3. Giants average more rushing yards per game than the Pats and allow fewer against. Case rested
4. Had you read the stats on sucessful kicks over 40 yards at Lambeau
5. Maybe's good enough for me
6. Take your point thankyou, slight edge
7. Agreed
8. Special Teams - All on the night, simple as that
9. What have they won, nothing yet!!!!
I'll give you best 5-4 to the Giants hence my prediction of a Giants OT win........

1. First of all to suggest that Eli is a better quarterback than Brady at this point is a joke. I agree that he has improved this year and has played well as of late but he's still not in Brady's league. Trying to make this argument is ridiculous.
3. When I was comparing running backs I was including Kevin Faulks ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and his value in converting 3rd downs. He may be the best in the business at it and proved so during the Chargers game. Actually Maroney is a good receiver too. If this were based solely on rushing yards I'd agree and give the edge to the Giants. But of course this is debatable.
4. I see your point. Who cares about the kicking game anyhow. The Patriots don't seem to need one.
9. What have they won? Well this head coach in particular is one of the winningest playoff and superbowl coaches of all time. What has Coughlin won?
It should be a great game.
I still can't believe your serious about Eli over Brady. That's just nuts.

Eli is near the bottom in almost every category. Brady is #1 in almost every one.
Plus Brady's got the rings to back it up.

I base my whole theroy on when you peak, I'll hold my hands up and agree on all points if this were week 10 or even 17..... but it's not...
Eli has proved he's no choker and is now showing his worth, the D has been solid all season and if the receivers had caught more than they dropped god knows what Eli's stats would look like..... They've got to stick sooner rather than later and I'm sticking with Eli,,,, a great bet for MVP???????
Would you of been 18-0 if you'd have played Green Bay, Home or Away?????
Originally posted by dickyYou're right sorry it is 3 games. I agree with you that he's played very well the past 4 weeks and I expect he'll continue to play well in the SB. My point is that he's not as good as Brady. He just isn't and the facts this year and in the past prove it.

The Pats have had plenty of tough games.
Indy on the road
Pittsburgh
Giants on the road
Jacksonville (many people here were claiming they'd lose this one)
Chargers twice
Dallas on the road
And yes the Pats would have most likely beaten Green Bay either at home or on the road. You don't really think Green Bay is a better team than New England?
