Yes indeed. And it's already turning into a juksende drittsekk convention
But I entered anyway; there are a few great human players like Greenpawn in it and sometimes you get lucky and dodge the silicon for the first and second rounds. Who knows, maybe the site will reinstate aggressive anti-cheat measures during the year (there's always hope). I'm not going to let the acts of miscreants and misfits rule me; you might as well leave the site if you can't even enter a tourney because of cheats.
Count me in again.

The number of strong players ( +2000-2100 ) is really small, for the moment....
Fear of the police ..😉 ?
The absence of 2200+ players might in fact be related to the farce at the top of the leader board. If no effort is being expended to eliminate the most obvious cheats, why bother entering? You'll notice that just about 50% of the 'top 30' have nearly stopped moving, ten days into the new month. None of this group have more than 20 move; a number have none.
For my part, I entered the Championship for the first and last time in 2009. I was runner-up in my 2nd round group to the eventual 'winner' of the Championship, Sealion. He topped me only because I lost to the 3rd guy in my group. That guy was banned, too late for me though. And Sealion was banned too in due course. The entire exercise was pointless. It was as bad in 2010; and remained absurd in 2011.
I continue to play tournaments, many within clubs. But not the Championship, no thanks

I was looking at the numbers of people entered by rating grade.
Its pretty much like you would expect - bell curve, with the exception that there is a noticeably "missing" bit for players graded 1700-1799. ie lower than you might expect
Here are the figures for the 800+ entrants with their ratings rounded down to the nearest 100
rating number of entrants
7004
8002
90020
100050
110063
1200101
1300106
1400131
1500104
160073
170037 <== you might expect this to be about 60 or so
180052
190024
200018
210012
22006
23002
24001
Any thoughts why that might be...
Are there less players of that grade?
or are they somehow dissuaded from entering?
My rating is about the bottom of that group and i enjoyed it last year.
If you do the same thing again but rounding by 50's the effect is even odder.
You would probably have to graph this to see what i mean, but here are the figures.

7502
8002

I wonder what the active player ratings look like overall?
Is it just me, or is this tournament looking smaller than earlier ones? I was looking through some old posts about last year's tourney, and people were talking about 15 people in the final. Unless there are a lot of drawn first and second rounds, that wouldn't happen this year. Surely the numbers interested can't have dropped.

2009 - 1419
2008 - 909
2007 - 590
2006 - 406
2005 - 455
That's all of them.
So,guys and dolls, are we "in it to win it" or have you clever players forgotten the great world wide fellowship of sporting chess players who like to talk about the weather and "shoes and ships and sealing wax and cabbages and QUEENS".......(which you have just taken) It`s not only about winning and with my rating I don`t expect to but I`ll have a go this year and get you all worried.🙄🙄🙄
