I had the same problem and was very tempted to do the same thing, especially when over a week went by on one of the moves. But I recently messaged him and found he has been relying on using his friends computer for most of his turns.
He has been moving a lot more frequently since and I think we are going to get to the end of both our first round games very soon. Hopefully your games are also moving faster now...
