Has there been any discussion on a slow game holding up a tournament, the outcome of which will not affect the overall outcome?

I started my first tournament 7/14 in March, & at this rate it will be March next year before the last pair finish there game. I have observed both players waiting the full 7days, & even using up a day of timebank before moving, even though they are moving in other games.

Do I swallow the frustration? Live & learn?

There have been discussions, but as with the discussion of the banded tournaments nothing came out of that.

Tournament mods would be great there. Thye could be burdened also withe the task to kick off new rounds even if non-decisive games are still running.

I have the same on going at the moment. I qualified for the second (final) round 3 months ago and am still waiting. My opponent in the next round has been known for 2 months but 1 game (that already has a clear cut winner) is dragging on and on.

Now it looks as if it will finish at the one time when I am unavailable to play. I have dealt with all my other games so no time out losses will be incurred but cannot deal with this. Most frustrating.

Perhaps if a round in a tournament starts the clocks should not start ticking until that first move is made (as white by both players).

Russ and co have been making a change to allow a tournament to continue once each group has been decided, it's not implemented although it's *almost* finished, which could mean anything.

You can actually see the new tournament details page, Go to the page which shows all the groups for a tournament, your URL will look something like...

change the last little bit to read viewv2.php, so you'll get something like.....

Press return and you'll see what's coming!

WOW! It looks like a great system!
I can see that a great amount of effort would be required to get it all to work.
Thanx for the replies.

there seems to be some kinks still, like in april 1600-1699 group 3 there's 'decided', and although I'm already qualified, red house can still tie and qualify as well.

Russ has already said in another thread that some other things are taking priority. There are problems still, as you have spotted, which is why this has not been rolled out.

At least it's not a major fault with the system, hopefully Russ will be able to get some time soon to sort it out and then release it.

I hope they do a slow 'phased' release. Can you imagine automatically progressing through to the next round in 5 tournaments in one moment, talk about game overload!
