Viz, the popular British distinguished and...er...educational magazine
has again lampooned chess. This time with a double page feature which
is a bit too indelicate, near the knuckle and too racy to reproduce here.
Inside they are running a chess competition.
What is the least number of moves it will take for the Knight to
capture the Rook, Queen and Bishop, which will remain stationary.
It is up to you if you wish to enter. Good Luck!
This first one I saw on facebook. (White to play and mate in two.)
A few people commented there is no mate in two. The puzzle is sound.
That puzzle and the fact I saw it on facebook reminded me of this one
which I used on here three years ago. A wonderful position and similar
to above, a facebook poster did not believe it came from a real RHP game.

Quite a coup by Andrew Soltis, using a Beth Harmon game from Queen's Gambit
to make a point. Perhaps he, along with me and no doubt others, expected the
market to be overwhelmed with Learn from Beth Harmon Books and DVD s.
The games from the series are loosely based on real games. In the above CHESS
a five page article by John Henderson tracks down most of them as we can now
add or make a claim that the first game in Queens Gambit came from or was
perhaps inspired by the fatherdeath - SpiritOfTruth game on Red Hot Pawn.
