@Russ saidNow I'm just curious. Do you have a team working with you, or are you flying solo?
I camp by a keyboard post any release, and some changes such as this are easy to check off between the meatier issues. 🙂
None of my business really, but I know we started out with just you and Chris as admin. That's been many years and many miles ago!
There's plenty of moaning and groaning about this latest upgrade, but it would sure be fun to kick it back to what it was in February or March of 2001 for a day or two, then switch it back to the present.
Just joking, I wouldn't wish that on anyone!
@mwmiller saidThanks for that.I didn't completely understand what you meant by adding labels but the good news is whatever Russ did seems to have worked so thanks to you both.
Already "Done and Dusted"?
Your response time is scaring me, Russ!
Now we will just hope it makes a difference! 🙂

@mwmiller saidThat original source code exists somewhere on a backup. If I ever had way too much time on my hands sometime, it would be fun to try and resurrect it a test environment.

The move validation stuff is about the only remaining bit of 20+ year old code now. Due to its sensitivity, it rarely gets touched. It's not a pretty sight.
I've written a far better replacement (used in live chess right now), but one step at a time....
Chris is like an honorary admin - he is still available for assistance when needed - but all dev (Web/iOS/Android) is done by me, and has been for probably 15+ years.
@venda saidDave, I was talking in general about the graphic icons that are used throughout the various RHP pages.

As you browse around a page these icons represent a button that will often initiate an action or open up a new page or window with various options that we can use to change the way a page or list is presented.
Some of the icons used are fairly common and as we browse around various internet web pages we often come across them and learn to recognise their purpose.
The circular arrow usually means update or reload, or refresh the page. The three dots represent a link to see more options. The three horizontal little bars usually open a new menu.
But other button icons are unique or not seen that often, so their purpose can be expressed by adding a brief text label to explain their function.
An example is at the top of this page, where you see a main navigation bar with a string of icons going across the page. You see the icon, and under it you see the text label.
On the right end of the bar there are three round icons that do not show a text label, but if you move the mouse pointer over them, a text label pops up to identify their purpose.
Then on the right end of the bar you see a lozenge shaped button with your avatar and the three horizontal bars. These are becoming used regularly to indicate an additional options menu.
So back to the "my games" folders.
Some of the icons used on that page did not include a text label, and their purpose was not readily obvious (at least, not to me).
My suggestion was to add text labels to those icons, in the hope that the additional information would cut down on the confusion and make it easier for users to figure out how to customize the information in the folder, etc.
I do hope that helps explain the general idea, and will make the transition a lttle smoother! 🙂
@mwmiller saidThanks for taking the time to explain.

I worked out what the unlabelled icons did by pressing them.
I thought you were suggesting creating my own "labels" somehow
I'm quite happy with the new site overall.I especially like the notifications telling me of replies to my posts.
The puzzles still don't work properly, but I wasn't very good at them anyway!
I know all these things take time.I worked with computers in my job and whenever we had updates and new systems it took I.T a while to get them how we wanted them.
I'm sure in a few weeks or so everyone will forget the old format.
I certainly can't remember what the site looked like when I joined in 2010
@venda said🙂 -->And I'm sure you would be startled with how it looked in the first half of 2001!

I think the bottom line is that humans are mostly creatures of habit, we get comfortable with the way things are and definitely do not like change!
That's probably why I'm still refusing to upgrade my computer from windows 7.
