A new vote has been created to seek feedback on tournament time controls so in the future the majority of tournaments can be targeted more effectively to what people actually want.

Please take the time to vote - a large sample would be very useful.

Vote from the community menu >> vote.

Thanks.

Would there ever be the possibility of being able to choose whatever timeout you like in friendly games, e.g. 2/5 ?

1/3 is missing.

That's because it is too quick.

IMO 3/7 is too quick.

3/14 is ideal.

How about some options with no time banks?

Why would you possibly want no time bank. Personally I like the low timeout/ huge timebank games best. The 1-3 day timeout keeps everything moving and the large timebank allows for a vacation or a couple of deep thinks).

I think the game really keeps moving with out a timebank. I believe there was a time when the site had no timebanks. The games play a little more like OTB games. Gotta keep moving.

So I should have posted my thoughts in your thread? Sorry. I dont get a chance to read through every thread here. Thought I caught the important one. No timebank would still be my preference even if it means nothing.

I wonder whether votes are a good way to decide on this, given the limited sample. Wouldn't the speed at which certain tournaments fill up be a better indication? (Of course, that's assuming people check the time controls before entering a tournament)

Anyway, I hope this doesn't mean less popular formulas disappear or become too rare.

Indeed.

For example, the current long hual duel and tourny are fully subscribed, yet, according to the vote, they should both have the same few people in them.

By all means increase the number of 3/7s if that's what people want, but it'd be nice to see the longer t/o tournaments stay at least as regular as they are now. Short t/o games are fairly useless to me these days.
