Clans

Thank you kindly,

That does explain much to me. How do you manage to run a Club when you are seldom there? It must be just a fun thing you do to past the time?

Which would mean you have no idea of what the clan leaders have to do on this site to be a contender, much work is put into it. Some just can't be bothered to put the time and effort into it or simply don't ha ...[text shortened]... ould understand. I have much more time since I retired than when I was semi-retired for sure.

No problem.

Like I said, I no longer run leagues there, just a single club. (So doesn't take a fraction of the time it used to). My club is currently waiting for the next season to start.

Thank You,

I understand not as much work required for running the Clubs as there is the Clans here, so would be a much easier time making matches. This is the point I was trying to make.

I was also wondering if you guys have a set amount of games each club plays which would also be different than what we do on here?

Clubs no. Leagues, yes.

So if you don't have a set amount in the leagues does it run smoothly all the time?

Leagues have various divisions with set games. (Each team will play 56 games in a season).

Pretty well all the clans on here play more games than 56 I am fairly certain without even looking.

Not disputing that.

In the film league I referenced, for example (where I still captain the King Kong team) there are currently 11 divisions involving 55 teams each playing 56 games.

It adds up. (And that's just one league among many).

That is all well and good but how many do you actually play yourself?

These days? Just 8 games a season. - That's why I can handle the game load (and manage the team) while not being too involved with the site.

I play a lot more than that just in Breaking Bad you can see for yourself if you want to look. I think this is part of the problem you guys want to win something and not have to play many games to do it. This is what I strongly disagree with.

Have a morning coffee sir. You're all befuddled.

But again, the clan system would be improved (I believe) by less focus on quantity and more on quality. Nobody (except Michael) wants to put in 40 hours of work a week to win the championship.

Simply because I said you guys want to win something and not have to play much to do it???

That Sir, is a true statement.

I am betting you didn't even bother to look at what I've played with Breaking Bad since joining in June 21/21. Probably more than you have on this site and your site.
Plus I play on 2 other chess Sites.

I think it's quite telling that you want to shut down any discussion about how the clan system can be improved.

Why do you fear an open discussion and the exploration of new ideas?

You mean about playing less games and winning something for it?

Do you think that an achievement?

You guys aren't looking to improve anything especially the Clan System, you are looking to play less games and win something for doing nothing.

I have already suggested time and time again amalgamate the smaller clans into bigger clans, Have Co-Clan Leaders, then you have more Quality over quantity as you say you are looking for. Perhaps that would work what is the sense in having more clans but less Quality. I think were down now to under 70 clans roughly, and a lot of those have 1, 2, or 3 players in them.

At the end of the day less Clans and better Quality just might work?

I believe Amalgamation of the smaller clans into bigger clans is one way to complete at a higher level than we now see. There are many good players on this site much better than players we have in Breaking Bad, but thing is we work at it where others can't be bothered if you want my True Opinion.

Yes sir. Less games for the top few clans and a more standardized format for matches. This ties in with a shift from quantity of games where players are rushing through games as quickly as possible, to quality of games where results carry more gravitas (as opposed to speed and quantity).

But it is not a case of winning something for nothing. Clan leaders would still have to put in effort, but would not be required to put in ridiculous amounts of time to be competitive. - And I'm not pretending I have all the answers here, but do welcome threads like this one to discuss new ideas to improve the clan system and give a wider number of clans the opportunity to be competitive (without the need to put in 40 hours a week or feeling the pressure to play speed chess to whiz through matches and resign games they deem as unimportant).

For example, there could be a cap on the number of matches that could be played in a given year. - It could be quite a high cap, but a ceiling of some kind. This would de-incentivise clans from speeding through matches as it would just mean they hit the cap too soon, rather than pacing their matches throughout the year, focusing more on winning games.
