let's face this one reality
no matter what rules are in place, Metallica would win
but I think that gross points would eliminate some of the problems and stimulate more activity

There is a difference.
Current system in place represents a combination of the 2 philosophies.
1 - a clan has to have a good winning record.
2 - a clan has to play often enough to be deserving of a title.

By way of example, you can sort the clan table by gross points.
You will find that the last place clan losing nearly twice as much as they win is now on the first page.

Net points system represents a balance.
That's all I am saying.

If you keep pointing to Metallica as an example, then you are making this about Metallica.

This is nothing new to us.

Gross points assigns 0 points to a clan that loses a challenge.

Under your proposal, a clan could be awarded points for losing a challenge but winning enough games.

A scoring system needs to separate the eagles from the turkeys.
Perhaps the phrase is a bit Darwinian for some.
But I am not a proponent of bringing first place and last place closer together.

Which btw, is exactly what Carrobie's hare brained ELO proposal stood for.
