@uzless saidTolkein wrote nothing about the rings of power besides what little he wrote about them in the Hobbit or the Lord of the Rings. This series is inspired by Tolkein's writings. Much of it can be inferred by the two works above, but he wrote nothing else on it.
Did anyone make it through season 1? I gave up after 4 or 5 episodes. Almost as bad as those new Star Wars series.
I thought for sure ROP would have been cancelled. Tolkien and his son would have been furious.
I hear in Season 2 that the Orc's have wives and kids...omg.
I have found the series to be compelling television so far.
@Suzianne saiduh, he wrote ENTIRE other books...

The Silmarillion
Unfinished Tales
Plus all the appendices....Plus all his private letters he wrote to people that are now public explaining the backstories.
@uzless saidThat's as may be, but what I said is true.

Did you read those others? They cover different eras of Middle-Earth.
@uzless saidSo how would Orcs come into existence in your version of middle Earth?

I haven't bothered with the rings of power.I saw the plot previews and decided it wasn't for me.
I think it's the same as a lot of franchises both film and t.v.People see an opportunity to make more cash by piggybacking on popular series'
The only ones that have really worked in my opinion are the star trek ones, although the later incarnations are not so good(Enterprise,Picard for example)
TNG,DS9 and Voyager were all very good I thought but that ought to have been it
@venda saidI am not into those either.

Thouugh it would be a shame to ahve a well constructed world "just" for one story.
Some of the books on "the neverending story" by Michael Ende I ahve liked quite a bit.
(my earlier post was more on the humourous side).
