So three geniuses named Ray. Ray Dolby, Ray Kurzweil, Ray Scudero. That last one was my best buddy in Jerusalem, also RIP with a brain tumor at the age of 55. Singer songwriter, 600 songs written, luthier, polymath.

I did not know you were Ray Scudero's friend. Awesome composer. Kurzweil, another genius. Now don't tell me you knew Ray Bradbury!

Oh yes, I remember it.

I have to chuckle when I meet people who talk endlessly about how CDs are very 'flat' compared to records, about the cabling they have just paid £30 a metre for to their speakers, how MP3 downloads are even worse etc.

When I first started listening to music, I had a mono tape recorder with a hand held mike that I had to hold up to the radio.

Then I got a stereo cassette player with dolby. God, did I feel state of the art (thanks Dad)

Today I have an Iphone and Spotify account and a pair of Bose headphones. I doubt the outlay for this in real terms was that much more than for the stereo cassette (as I said, thanks Dad).

I can download almost anything I want in sound quality that was unimaginable when I was a child.

Yet still some people bang on about the sound quality of downloads.

They have no idea.

🙂
