Progressive has meant different things in just the last century. It always tries to identify itself as superior, but that is a judgement to be made over the long term, and not on what is currently "progressive'.

Maybe so, but my kids still have a healthy dose of the reading, writing, and arithmetic. They have tons of math homework, much more that I ever did.

My daughter in her Algebra II and pre-Calculus (trigonometry and analytic geometry) classes had homework every night. Also in her Chemistry II class. This is big public school district in a suburb of Houston.

I agree that teachers and educators may tend to be more liberal than average, but my kids get inundated with right-wing ideology from teachers and other students.

But more to the point, even if what you say is true, does not being informed about math, science, language, history, geography, government, etc. make one more likely to be progressive -- less resistant to change and improvement?

And even more to the point, the data clearly show that more educated in terms of Bachelors. Masters, PHD, shows a direct correlation with voting for Democrat Party candidates. Surely, people do think for themselves and more informed people are less likely to be totally brainwashed like the Fox News bubbas with little education.

    It is basic.

    Conservative -- resistant to change.

    Progressive -- change and improvement.

Quality of life should be a powerful incentive for change and improvement but often isn't. Proof is in the native cultures around the country. Their belief system changes through their education but it does not translate into improvement. The basics will give a person a level of competency for which they can draw on for jobs if they have the inclination, but doesn't tell them what they should believe. They have been ramming socialist agenda down the throats of the American Indian for several generations, and there is very little improvement. The Fox news and CNN news watchers are nearly at the same level. Just because someone was a a professional student does not equal high IQ but rather a liberal bias which supports what I have been saying.
