When I was a kid we were told our stupid actions were the reason why we got into trouble or got hurt so it was our fault.

Is riding a dirt bike in the city allowed? Serious question. I thought they weren't allowed. Can a 13 year old have a motorbike license?

Yes you can ride a dirt bike in the city if it has blinkers/headlight and a license plate.
No, a 13 year old cannot get a license to do so, gotta be at least 16, same as driving a car.

Unbelievable....now the mayor is turning on the police saying they are responsible:

Hardly unbelievably is it. That sums up the problem with some cops. Never mind the rapists and murderers let’s chase down a thirteen year old on a motorbike, it’s irresponsible to have high speed chases in built up urban areas at the best of times. I don’t see anyone getting charged with anything but people have a right to be hacked off about the death of a thirteen year old and the role some Starsky and Hutch fans in blue played in that death.

Watch the video. The 13 yo went sailing through a busy intersection against a red light with cars going both ways. The cop put his lights and siren on but the idiot had already killed himself just three blocks away just as the cop car was turning the corner. Only person doing high speed was the dirt bike boy.

So far, I don't blame cops for his death; but some things don't add up.

The police claim they followed him for "driving recklessly", but they started following him as soon as he left the gas station. That's one inconsistency.

Also, the article says he crashed 3 blocks later. How "reckless" can you drive in the span of only 3 blocks?

Your article says that protestors are asking for "transparency", possibly indicating they believe there's more to this story than what was revealed.

I didn't see that in your link. The only video I saw was of him at the gas station.

And why refer to a 13 yr old kid as an "idiot"?

Reckless enough to crash and kill yourself.
If they want to blame someone besides the kid, blame the father for buying the bike for him and letting him drive it in city traffic.

Again: why did the cops start following him *as soon* as he left the gas station? That question isn't answered. Obviously, he wasn't "driving recklessly" inside a gas station store.

If you're just a 13 yr old kid and a cop starts following you the moment you leave a store, that would understandably be unnerving.

I guess you didn't notice how fast he took off and drove across two lanes of traffic without slowing down to look either way.
He shot out of that parking lot like a cannon.

He did not take off "fast", and the way you worded your post is misleading; you're phrasing it as if the kid immediately sped off across lanes, which prompted cops to follow.

The kid took off at a normal speed for such a vehicle and the cops started following *immediately* after, almost as if they were waiting for the boy.

You say he wasn't being reckless.
The fact that he killed himself puts lie to that claim.

No; I said he wasn't drivingly recklessly before the cops started following him. Big difference.

So.....WHAT?
Bottom line is he ran from the police and killed himself.
Here's a video of him leaving the parking lot, looks pretty reckless to me, plus the video continues and shows him blasting through a 4-way intersection against a red light, that's when the cop puts his lights and siren on. By the time the cop waited for cars to pass and turned the corner the kid was already dead.
