Why don't the former Soviet-block states, like Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Chechya, Bulgaria, Hungaria, Moldova, Romania, right down to Georgia, etc hold a nationwide referendum as to if the people wish to, or not to, join Russia. Will this keep the wolf from the door, when its like worldwide knowledge either way?
Because I can see Putin is planning big moves on his chess board.

Georgia was manipulated into being invaded just for talking about joining nato and then lost two chunks of territory.
Generally speaking it’s the ex soviet states that are the more hawkish about Russia, probably because they know exactly what an expansionist Russia feels like when it rocks up in your town square.
