If Tucker told you this you would say,,He Lies!
Because, it is most unlikely, so it must be a lie! But it
Is likely, kids, it is going on. But beyond that, it is going to get worse. When Walmart closes stores in Portland, so will the little shops around them, since the crowds won't be coming to the venue anymore.
Do we have any activists on the forum, BTW? Should we count heads?

Ya, that was in Portland.
It seems that all the efforts that people extend to help the homeless and the drug addicts are actions
that actually promote the cause. sad but true. wait until next year, you will see more homeless in Portland

How can you say outrageous stuff like this, not knowing the facts on the ground and then end with a BS cavalier "sad but true"?

It's amazing to me how people who can't be bothered to help these, the neediest of the needy, then turn around and claim some stupid stuff like the people trying to help are just making it worse. This is some blatantly ignorant BS. I don't see you out there giving your own time and money and sweat and tears to help these people. Try to remember that they are still people.

I wish @Torunn were in this thread to see this.

This is a forum I never go to except for this one time, as you drew my attention to it. I won't comment on this, I don't feel involved.

ah yes, the number one cause of homelessness is easy access to tents. The cities that are tearing tents with buldozers are actually helping them.

You are so dumb you actually thought our first thought on this would be "it's a lie, it isn't happening" instead of "good, at least it's something".

Yeh they’ll probably move there from wherever you and AJ live
Or do you think people managing to keep a roof over their heads are going to say to themselves ‘sod this I could be living in a tent in Portland’
It’s winter earl the tents are an effort to stop people dying on the streets of Portland.

"Mayor AvJoe calls for removal of tents from city sidewalks to encourage people who are actually living there to go to government agencies to find work and get their lives together. Social Services are advised to prepare to assist, as that is what they are there for."

I’ve told you Joe Fox News links are no longer being accepted on this forum because they contravened posting guidelines far too many times.

The tents are to provide some shelter for those turned away from social services (shelters and other programs) due to overcrowding. This is currently going on in Phoenix, also.

You think inflation has kicked your ass? Try being homeless on top of it. More and more homeless are flocking to urban cores. The number of homeless has exploded since Covid.

Tents "encourage" homelessness? Right.

Meanwhile, conservatives can't draw a connection between access to automatic rifles and mass shootings.

Yes, it is absolutely right.
Putting up tents all over the city for homeless people to take over and squat in would, so OF COURSE the result would be to encourage more homeless people to infest the city.

If you don't have tents you just have homeless people with no tents.

Right.
So, the homeless living on the sidewalk move into a free tent, which leaves room for even more homeless to move in and live on the sidewalk.
Eventually the tent/sidewalk people will outnumber the productive citizens that support them..

And that’s exactly what rocks JJs boat. Counterintuitively he sleeps better knowing that there are people freezing to death on the street below.
