He's already cozying up to conservatives on Twitter, even breaking rules in order to agree with them. This not a coincidence.
Musk stands to make serious $$$ when the presidential election heats up.

It’ll be the same 70 million V 80 million and in the real world you’ll lose, wether that’s a big enough margin to get around the Trump parties jerry meandering and race based voter restrictions is the only real question.
