London — The city of Amsterdam has launched a campaign to discourage visits from British men between the ages of 15 and 35 who are looking to party.
"Coming to Amsterdam for a messy night + getting trashed = £140 + criminal record + fewer prospects," a new video says, showing an intoxicated man being arrested and jailed.
The video will be shown to people who search for terms online like "stag [bachelor] party Amsterdam," "cheap hotel Amsterdam" or "pub crawl Amsterdam," the city said in a statement on Tuesday.
"So coming to Amsterdam for a messy night? Stay away," the video concludes.
The campaign will be extended to target "potentially nuisance-causing visitors" from other European countries, and even domestic visitors from other parts of the Netherlands, over the course of the year, the city announced.
@vivify saidThey’re trying to gentrify “de Wallen”, the red light district.

And British hen and batcholor parties are a bit of a nuicense.
So, the two things combined…
@shavixmir saidTypical middling classes, move into a red light district and eradicate prostitution by banning their customers. Those windows should be a world heritage sight.

@vivify saidNot all Brits. Some Brits. Specifically, the twenty-five-year-old adolescents on a stag night or (often worse) hen do, who come only to get completely drunk, smoke more joints than they've ever seen in their lives, be loud as a fire engine at any time of night or day, puke everywhere, and grope the local population whether they want it or not and whether it's their profession or not.

Good effing riddance. At least something good comes out of Brexit.
The rest of you, who can be relied on to behave as adults, can keep coming.

@kevcvs57 saidExcept those aren't their customers. Those are the ones who leer at the windows at 2 o'clock in the morning by the dozens, but only one - if that - stops to buy, and the rest keep the locals awake with their caterwauling.

It never used to be like that. And it's not the middle classes moving in who changed that - it's the barf ferries. The middle classes moved in several decades before the hen does did. (Does did!?)
@shallow-blue saidHen do’s, me thinks.

One day, somebody's going to have to enlighten me as to the appeal of going to a strange place, spending oodles of cash, getting so drunk you can't really enjoy or remember anything, risk getting arrested, robbed, STD'ed or worse, all for an experience that's going be totally meaningless (and possibly with a painful hangover) the next day.
I don't get it.
@sh76 saidCongratulations, you are apparently not from Gravesend or Billericay.

I don't understand it, either.
