@kmax87 saidAmerica has to be fiscally responsible??. Our party, being thwarted constantly in our efforts, started with DOGE. Our party has streamlined tariffs which is fiscal big time, already brought in $100B. Your 'debt mountain' reference? Debt is part of the economy. A necessary evil. Don't get you there. You don't think we do AID and calm negotiation to an extreme? We pay for very rank programs in other nations. Look it up...we funded transgender opera in Columbia? You all into other nations are you? Their best interest, you say?
Moving forward:-
America is not a new start up. Disrupting the market should not be its strategy. Softly, softly, quietly does it. A super Super Tanker needs to communicate at all times to everyone concerned. No sudden moves. Its not a speedboat. Anyone leading uses part carrot, part stick. You can't go all stick and expect people to follow. America will have to be a lot m ...[text shortened]... enough to recognize how much more it benefits from its position in the world, will be its downfall.
Your thingy about healthcare education poverty and inequality....We should pay every dime we have to cover the 50M people in real trouble. Cannot the rest of us be self-reliant and live within our means for own welfare? You actually want the government to provide this? Socialism? Dons't get you there, either.
Why we got the baton is quite irrelevant, and, we earned it. So you will dictate that we should not sit on our laurels? Your last sentence implies that individuals should not strive for self improvement and make each day better than the last? You and Bernie want Mor Moneypenny to stop earning money and creating jobs when his net worth hits $1M>. So how much is he going to be allowed to do? Are you and Mumdani going to stop him in his tracks? And at the SAME time go about making other countries all better off? Read your post, man. And, read this.
I am reporting this article for the edification of all in this Forum. We will not have to waste ink debating just exactly what this guy says he will do. Call him a Communist or an easter Bunny. But look at the man. Se what he wants to do. Abolish Private Poperrty Ownership, give houses to people. And so forth. The link for th article is at the bottom of this post.
Zohran Mamdani's past comments are once again coming back to haunt his New York City mayoral campaign, as a resurfaced video reveals the socialist candidate floated the "abolition of private property."
"My platform is that every single person should have housing, and I think faced with these two options, the system has hundreds of thousands of people unhoused, right? For what?" Mamdani questioned in a resurfaced video that has been clipped and reposted across conservative social media.
"If there was any system that could guarantee each person housing, whether you call it the abolition of private property or you call it, you know, just a statewide housing guarantee, it is preferable to what is going on right now," Mamdani said.
The clip drew widespread condemnation from conservatives, including GOP Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, who told Fox News Digital, "He claims to be a socialist, whether it's wanting to abolish private property or wanting to seize the means of production, these are communist ideas right out of the playbook of Karl Marx."
@AverageJoe1 saidLook I get it. You don't get it. Not because you are a bad person or anything, but your culture has predisposed you against workers, workers rights and unions. In the late 19th century and early 20th century your great men, whether JP Morgan, JD Rockefeller or Henry Ford all hated unions and organized labor and did their level best to destroy them. Same in this day and era. Musk and Bezos will not tolerate organized labor and would prefer their workers to slide into a Neo-feudalism.

That's your culture. I get it. My culture had the unions organize themselves into a political party that has been part of the country since federation in 1901. The Australian Labor Party (ALP) has championed workers rights since Australia stopped being a colony and started to rule itself. Its fundamental to our way of thinking that workers rights are never to be trampled on.
So what did it establish and how is my culture different to yours. Here's a blurb..."The formation of the ALP provided a platform for workers to voice their grievances and fight for meaningful change. Through collective action and political representation, the party aimed to address the injustices faced by ordinary Australians and champion policies that would improve their lives.
One of the key principles that underpinned the ALP’s ideology was the notion of social justice. From its inception, the party advocated for policies such as minimum wages, maximum working hours, and workplace safety regulations, laying the groundwork for Australia’s modern labor laws.
Moreover, the ALP played a significant role in shaping the nation’s social welfare system, championing initiatives such as universal healthcare, pensions, and unemployment benefits. These policies were instrumental in promoting equality and improving the standard of living for all Australians." As I said we have different cultures and we approach issues with vastly differing perspectives. We don't see the same playing field.
What sounds like communism to you, is just our system which is capitalist by nature but with a secure safety net that helps people who may have lost the ability to help themselves. What you say is capitalism sounds more like oligarchy, wrapped in populism, reeking of fascist dictatorial demagoguery. So yeah we don't see the same picture, but that's good because we wouldn't want to be the same, now would we?
@kmax87 saidSilly goose. So you are telling us that all cultures are different. Exactly. So your comments don’t apply to every culture? Right. So you make no point.

Next, I mention the creation of your so-called ‘safety net’ by saying we need to cover those 50M. That is my answer. Other than that, as you say, workers have every right to form unions and negotiate, which is wonderful capitalism. So you lose me a lot with your comments.
Now, square with me, how you can tell us to cut our military in half while Trump is out there, making Europe pay for all of the patriot missiles to Ukraine, and he is vowing to help Europe, and he is gonna apparently going to bring Putin down a notch. Tell me what is wrong with this paragraph?? Tell me how this world cannot live without the strongest country, which is the USA, vowing to help Europe and the rest of the world, and also paying for gay operas in Bolivia? We do it all.
You are way off the mark with this post, especially when you start speaking about how we should be like other cultures. I can easily just as much say you should be like our culture, where we hate dependency. We promote people who do not depend on government . You espouse government dependency. I find that sad… Especially for the dependents.
So I don’t see how there could be much more to say with this issue. Once again, conservative common sense versus liberal fairyland.. Your post is fraught with words like welfare universal collective all the social ‘everybody gather at the meeting house.’ Y’all gather on,……myself, I will go out and try to compete with the next guy and then compete with the next guy, and we will all be very happy. Here is the headline from New York Times.
Trump Promises to Help Europe Speed Weapons to Ukraine
The president also warned Russia that he would impose a new round of punishing sanctions if it did not agree to a peace deal within 50 days.

@Lundos saidI don't have actual numbers, but I gleaned this off the web about the way it exists in America now.
Yeah, US women got screwed with that rollback. I haven't seen US numbers but in Denmark women in their 20s now out earn men. I read a similar study from the UK. Things are changing.
Evidence of the Glass Ceiling Persisting:
Under representation in Leadership:
Women, especially women of color, are significantly underrepresented in executive and board-level positions compared to their representation in the workforce.
"Broken Rung" Phenomenon:
Research indicates that the biggest obstacle for women is often the first step up to manager, with women being promoted at a lower rate than men, creating a "broken rung" that limits the number of women in the pipeline to leadership roles.
Wage Gap:
Even when women reach higher-paying positions, they still tend to make less than their male counterparts, indicating ongoing pay discrimination.
Perceived Barriers:
Women often report experiencing bias, lack of representation, and difficulty accessing mentorship and sponsorship opportunities, which further contribute to the glass ceiling.
Stalled Progress:
Despite increased awareness and some progress, reports indicate that advancements for women in leadership have stalled in recent years, suggesting that the glass ceiling remains a significant obstacle.
And there's this, from 2023:

Denmark is way more liberal than the US. We have way more A-holes here, and a huge number of these are managers in corporations. So yes, change is coming, but it is s-l-o-w here. Like the song says, things change very slowly here, if they ever change at all.

@Lundos saidYes, I agree.
Five years is too slow. Trump already rules the Congress, the Senate, and the SC. He's even bragging about gerrymandering on (inter)national TV, and he doesn't mind saying out loud that he wants "North Korean" standards or that he wants to change the laws so he can do what he wants. Fascism has to be stopped before all the smart people are out of all positions of power and all the moronic bootlickers are there.
Change comes slowly in America, partially because people are complacent.
Half the country not thinking it's a big deal doesn't help.
@AverageJoe1 saidWut?
Quid pro quo…,.hmm This for that….who does or has done what This, and who does or has done what That?
I left it at three letters (didn't want to strain your brain with four), because you've said many times you get confused by liberal posts.
@Suzianne saidYes, I do get confused by lib posts. A PERFECT EXAMPLE is this very quote (of Kmax) to which I responded that I need to know ‘what’ he meant. Here is what he wrote, very confusing.

Kmax said above..”” So it’s not the responsibility of the US to give aid to any and every nation that is overwhelmed by international economics, it’s America's obligation. Quid pro quo. How long do you think the rest of the world will be enamored to let the US simply take without giving back?
Suzianne, look at just the first sentence of his paragraph. “It is not the responsibility of the US” , then “ it is the responsibility of America “or something like that. Huh?
Maybe you can tell me about it so I won’t be confused anymore.

Your culture has always had a problem with those on the bottom rung of society. Why I dont know. Maybe you can explain that.
@AverageJoe1 saidNope! Your false god Humpty Trumpty, under united states law, is considered a child molester and sexual offender. When found guilty in a court of law, he should be thrown in prison; and, have to register as a sexual offender and live by those conditions the rest of his life just as every other person. That goes for Bill Clinton also; and, every other person on that list no matter political affiliation or wealth status. It's the law.
Senator Jeff Murphy says that Trump will cause the death of millions if he does not fund USAID, etc.

@KingDavid403 saidHate to tell you….. with all of the exposes in which hunts and investigations and everything that goes on in DC, Comey fauci Trump Biden Hunter Clinton (Schiff the fraudster just this week!), all of them….. not one of them will ever be punished or go to jail. Oh, I left out Hillary who committed a crime. No one will go to jail, so why do y’all do all of the Epstein etc??

Did you just say it is the law? Hillary committed a crime destroying federal property and several others. What she did is against the law. It is the law just like you say. So you are a hypocrite. I I am thinking about kicking the tent poles out from your revival tent.
No one will ever go to jail, why doesn’t the investigative committee just give it up. I hate it too, but there’s a lot of waste of time and money, when Trump can be making us all rich again. Turn the man loose.
@AverageJoe1 saidYour false god looks to be a child molester and nothing less according to our laws. Release the Epstein files and we will all know either way. That goes for anyone else in those files. None of those other people you mentioned did anything near as serious as child molesting according to our laws.

Release the Epstein files! Your child molester and thief false god is going down. I really don't think this one is going away little joe boy. Bill Clinton is pooping his pants right about now also. They have records of him visiting the island 12 times. We will see little joe boy; we will see. 🙂
@KingDavid403 saidWouldn't it mean more to spend our time and efforts to return education to the States? The obvious intent of the constitution was to give states such powers, not the federal government.
