Let's drug-test on conservatives, republicans and anti-abortionists instead of on animals.

The results will be safer and the world will be a better place for it.

I was rather thinking of hopeless nut-cases like you, as well as violent criminals, rapists, and child molesters.

Yes, I do find it hard to believe that large amounts of a scientific community who are dedicating their lives to eradicating disease enjoy torturing animals.

Quite so. These awful scenes of extreme cruelty to animals are more likely to have come from backward countries of the so called third world , or even websites catering for perverts.

Not even if it is increasing our knowledge of disease and how to tackle it?

Yes, the media. Are you suggesting that this is all propoganda and, in fact, there is no need for animal testing in the medical sphere at all?

If so, why are Oxford building a new laboratory at great expense and trouble?

Obviously this is what you'd be thinking.
I'm sure your predictability would be especially interesting in a lab-like environment.

Depends how you define need. Animal tests are needed to develop new drugs, but are new drugs needed? Do we have a right to kill animals in the hope we may find cures for diseases? Or should we halt animal testing until the alternatives (computer modelling) become viable in 30, 50 100 or 200 years time?

"As one writer in The Tmes put it (and i'm paraphrasing here) some of these "activitists" are motivated less by a desire for animal welfare than by a hatred of humanity. Pretty well sums it up for me."

Pretty well sums it up for me - i was saying that I agree with his opinion.

Anyway stop being pedantic 😀
YOU SAID that you, like activists, "are motivated less by a desire for animal welfare than by a hatred of humanity." Stop changing the subject.

I imagine that, as a benefit to humanity, of course, you do quite a bit of drug testing on yourself, Shav.

I know I've been testing cigarettes for 50 years and wouldn't ever consider sharing them with animals.
