In George Santos seat. Polls had said this would be a close one between Tom Suozzi (D) and Mazi Pilip (R) but instead Suozzi is up by more than 17 points with more than half the vote in. https://decisiondeskhq.com/special-election-results-new-york-3rd-congressional-district/
This continues the string of Democratic successes since 2022 where they are overachieving estimates in virtually every race.

What bedfellows you have. Ahhhh, Maxine Waters ? You swell with pride.
I’m gonna thread the woman running against Schiff and Garvey in CA. Wants $50 min wage. She says ‘do the math’. Is she all u got?
@averagejoe1 saidMaybe Americans are sick of a party that only offers hate, fear and lies like the Republicans do.

Maybe most of them aren't as big of a gullible fool as you are Joe.
Suozzi's lead in real numbers remains a solid 13,000 with perhaps 25,000 to 30,000 votes left to count, but his percentage advantage is down to about 8.5%. https://decisiondeskhq.com/special-election-results-new-york-3rd-congressional-district/
A solid win, but "rout" might be a bit hyperbolic. Still a significant shift; Santos in 2022 won by about 20,000 votes and 7.5%. https://ballotpedia.org/New_York%27s_3rd_Congressional_District_election,_2022
@AverageJoe1
I guess you haven't heard a dem won the seat of the former congressman Santos? You know, that dude Souzzi? won by about 8 points and that means your red tide is over, get over it. We are taking back the house come November and all the BS repubs are shoving at us will be over and REAL bills will be passed again. I guess you fully agreed with the squeaker of the house Johnson not even letting the bill just passed by the senate BTW, BIPARTISIN, and that lovely anti american Johnson won't even let it be DISCUSSED much less voted on BECAUSE Trump ordered him not to.
So much for democracy, Trump is already acting like a dictator. Let's see how powerful he will be when his sorry ass is in prison.
@sonhouse saidI think the electorate has seen what the Republican maggots do with even a modicum of power and have decided to not give them any more of it.

@no1marauder saidSuozzi is a particularly strong candidate, having won that very seat three times (he didn't run against Santos in 2022). This is actually Suozzi's smallest margin of victory. He beat Santos in 2020 by 13 points and won in 2018 by 18 points and 2016 by 12.5. Moreover, the district went for Biden by 10 points in 2020.

Though a win is certainly a lot better than a loss and this is a partial reversal of the almost weird success of Republicans in New York in 2022, I wouldn't read too much into this as a big Democratic national portent.
@sh76 saidWhat we do over here is take the margin by which santos won the seat and add it to the margin by which Souzzi won the seat and declare a .? swing to the dems.

Do you think it is something the Republican congress has got wrong or something the dems got right that cost republicans the seat
@no1marauder saidMaybe we should wait until all the mail-in ballots are counted before we 'call' it.

@kevcvs57 saidI think it's mainly a Democratic seat that went Republican in a bizarre red wave that was limited to New York for some reason in 2022 and is now reverting to the mean. Also, you had a strong Democratic candidate and a nondescript Republican candidate that certainly helped.

Ultimately, November is going to come down to Trump vs. Biden. Everything else is small potatoes. And Congress will likely be won anyway on the coattails of one of those two gentlemen.
I don't think this election in an upper class New York City suburb gives us a lot of information on who will win in the blue-collar small and medium sized cities in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan where Presidents are elected.
Show me a Dem winning in Macomb County, Michigan or Luzerne County, PA, and Trump's got a problem on his hands.
@no1marauder saidNo, contrare', the 'americans' (questionable from here on out) voted for Free Stuff, Marauder. You know dam well. How is it going with pushing mail-in ballots? Please tell Suzy et al that all voting will be done legally

@sonhouse saidHow does he act like a dictator. For the record, if he were president now, would you want him to act like Biden? Tough one I know. Please try to answer it. Let's keep it interesting. Or, go to the document threads and talk it up.

@no1marauder saidYou coppin' some ideas from Suzianne? Cute couple. Hate and fear and self reliance and independence and freedom and...oops, got carried away. Tell me, Marauder, would you say that the republicans have more dependent citizens, or do you think Democrats have more dependent citizens?

Democrats have been mopping up the floor with the Republicans in swing States and districts since then.
