@jimm619
The pre-WW2 Antifascists are hardly the same as the 20-year-old black-clad dooshbags that were running around setting fire to America two years ago.
They are not related in any way.
Everyone has an opinion, but there
are only ONE SET OF FACTS.

According to you anyone that fought against the Axis powers was antifa, like our own soldiers.
People that call themselves antifa today have nothing to do with the movement of the 30's.
Anyway it appears Antifa in the US have disappeared. When was the last thing they did anything?

@jj-adams saidFunny how conservatives lack this logic when they point out white supremacists Democrats existed several decades ago.

boy, I devoured it. keep em coming
In the late 80's I bumped into Antifa/DAM/AFA on my way back from Football after a mid week game. My journey home had been truncated by a closure so i had to get off at Barking and walk to Ilford. As I came out of the station I was set upon by 4 burley blokes. I had no idea who they were at the time. In those days I could handle myself due to the number of times I had got into a ruck at footy over the years. I was getting pummeled as they had the element of surprise but I fell between two cars and found a chunk of wood. They thought they had me and were discussing kicking the fascist c*** unconscious. I smashed one in the side of his head with the wood and pushed it front first into the face on the second. He fell back into the other two so I kicked the first guy to make sure he was down for good. I swung as hard as I could at one of the others who had pushed past guy 2. He put his arm up to block the wood and had his arm broken in the process. He screamed real loud and constantly. I used my fists and feet on the other two and was doing OK when more of the f*****s turned up!! Luckily for me another train had just stopped and a group of my fellow supporters came out of the station. I had a bit of a breather as they all went at it as I came to the realisation they I was really f***d up! the Antifa legged it after a few minutes and my new friends returned to make sure I was OK. We walked to Ilford together encountering another group on the way but we were equal in number so they left us alone. When we got to Ilford there were dozens of skinheads and Antifa separated by Police. That's when we sussed out what was going on. They attacked me because they THOUGHT I was BNP. I have no respect for any group that thinks its OK to attack people because of who they think the person is. My wife was in bed when I got home and when she saw me next day she went on a rant about football. Until I told her it was Antifascists who thought I was BNP!!! So nothing to do with footy! Fortunately, both groups are in decline now.
@grandmaster-bater saidA truly fascinating tale, almost unbelievable.

Technically, I guess, I’m antifa.
And although, theoretically, I do find the best place for a fascist (of any sorts) is the graveyard, I wouldn’t (and never did) attack anyone who wasn’t actively involved in attacking someone at the moment I bumped into them (like during an anti-fascist demonstration, when the fascists and the police decided the anti-fascists needed beating… long story, long time ago).
And no one I knew back then (1980’s and 1990’s) would attack anyone just because they were dressed like a fascists or something (you know, the haircuts, the maroon clothing, etc. ). Because, that in itself, would be fascist behaviour.
And I would never have described myself as antifa. Yes, anti-fascist (but aren’t most people), but politically just socialist or communist. Or member of the SWP (socialist workers party) or maybe trade unionist.

There is website glorifying attacks on one or two people by groups of Antifa. Actively hunting for people to attack. In my mind that makes them just as bad as those they are looking for. The fascists attack people for their skin colour/religious beliefs. Antifa do so because they 'look like a fascist'. You could say I was wrong place, wrong time but even so unacceptable imo. I got in several rucks at footy when I was younger and it was always the other team looking for it. I never once attacked someone for the team they supported. The latest was a few weeks back when Man Utd came to town and lost so they waited for us near the station. The first time I have encounter ed trouble in 5 years. Several 25-35s had a pop at a group of teenagers who looked no more than 15/16. They came unstuck as the old boys like me waded in (slowly) to rescue them. Me and a mate both hit one at the same time. His head was meat in a knuckle sandwich. He went down and we could have kicked the F out of him but instead went for the others who legged it. We walked past the first guy who got up, did some bouncing around saying 'come on then' (watched football factory too many times) . We just looked at him and waited his next move. He obviously was wondering where his mates were and why they hadn't joined him. He looked around and realised he was on his own! I pointed and said they legged it that way. He was then on his toes running as fast as he could with the laughter of several old boys ringing in his ears. Kin hurt my hand though, the joys of getting old.
@wildgrass saidBut I thought they won't leave until November??
